Accessories PNY 16 GB MicroSD Class 2 Deal: Yes or No?

The difference in sd card class is write speed, so a low class card is only a problem for writing intensive operations. (there is a difference in read speeds as well, but it's a several times faster, so it's alot less of an issue than write speed). Unless your take alot of pictures in one sitting, videos, or use A2SD (or something like that) there really isn't a big performance difference.

In short, if you're reasonably happy with the speed of your current card you'll be happy with a new class 2. And for what I've heard, the sd card problem is Specific to the cards that came with it (if I'm wrong, somebody let me know).

Why would a card half it's size be alternative?

This is an alternative
Newegg.com - SanDisk 16GB Micro SDHC Flash Card Model SDSDQ-016G-A11M .
It's two bucks more but with no taxes and free shipping it comes out cheaper and it's sandisk. Still I would pay a little extra and get a class six cause your going to hate the speed.

For the same $ he can get this or that. Hence, it's an alternative. You might want to check out a dictionary sometime.

And not everybody needs 16gb of space on their phone (which would be 2000+ songs, or 5 and a half DAYS of music PLUS 4400+ pictures at full resolution). I just went ahead, and assumed he or she would be smart enough to make up his/her own mind on whether size was more important than speed. And if he wants to spend 2.5 times as much for what is probably a dubious benefit (most users REALLY don't need that big of a card).

And how is paying more than 3 times for the same exact card with a different brand on it an alternative?

And in general, brand name is next to meaningless for flash memory cards. They are all designed the same, built the same, often in the very same factories. As far as the SanDisk, it's brand is nothing to brag about. They have a reputation for high failure rates, as evidenced by the 70% 5* rating versus the 88% on the transcend.

Anyways, a couple of months ago I bought that very same Transcend 8gb card over a 16gb class 2, and it's working well for me.

Honestly, if Class 2 at 16GB won't eff up on the phone, I'd rather send only $13 in the long run and deal with the speed then $40+ on the higher classes. I'm a cheapskate like that :) My internal debate was whether or not the class 2 would be an issue in terms of functionality as I had read a lot of people had fails- which seems to be attributed mainly to Sandisk, possible counterfeits and the factory included cards.
