My wild guess prediction, okay hope, is for the phone to be in my hands no later than July 16th.

The trouble with working from home today is it gives me more freedom to procrastinate. Speculating about the newest front runner for My Next Phone is high on the list of things to do besides work

July 16th sounds nice, but seeing as how I just this morning shook an admonitory finger as my SO and said "Money's gonna be tight for the next 2 months" and I already promised him satellite before football season started ... sigh. I can almost (almost) hope that the phone would come out a wee bit later and help me resist the temptation of buying one just a little longer. Sometimes being an adult sucks.

Totally agree. As much as I want it RIGHT NOW! the 16th of July is earlier than I can buy it, anyway. That said, it might be nice if it came out a few weeks before I can get it so there is time to iron out all the quirks before I get mine!

I'm looking forward to it. My contract is up for renewal in January, so hopefully by then it'll be a decent price. I would rather not go down the path of an Ifail.

Oh would any of you know whether the Captivate can be insured? When I purchased my last Iphone (had to sell it), it wasn't able to be insured. I'm not sure if it's all touch screens or just the iphone they do that. Thanks in advance.

I was at Best Buy picking up an I Phone for my wife (She cooks me dinner every night how can I say no) and there was an AT&T rep there). I asked her about the captivate and she said that she had a telephone conference about the phone this morning. She told me to stay tune to tonight's Samsung Galaxy release in NYC. I asked her some more when she thought it would be released. She told me that there was no date mentioned, but that Samsung would start shipping the Captivate to AT&T by the middle of July and once there are enough to ship they will ship.

Just A Theory, but would a phone be released around a major sporting event such as the US open or the world cup? A big commercial during an event the world is watching saying; Hey get your Samsung Captivate phone today. World Cup Final is in July 10/11th Weekend.
