Root Nand Backup steps????

So I am trying to flash the WW rom and i can flash it just fine and everything works like it should but i had to wipe obviously to flash it, when i do a Nand Restore, it restores to the EE 3.0 rom i'm coming from.

Can someone tell me when i'm supposed to restore? Should I wipe and then flash the rom, and THEN restore? Or should I wipe restore then flash the rom? I'm confused on the process i guess.

The Nandroid backup records your system set-up EXACTLY as it was at the time of the back up (rom and all). It appears that you thought the Nandroid would overlay your apps, settings, etc. over your new rom, which is not the case. If you are looking for this function however, the most popular app that does this is called Titainium backup, which can back up your apps (and associated settings if I understand correctly) and restore them when you flash a new rom. It is one of the most popular programs for rooters, who like you, do not want to go through the hassle of reinstalling apps for every new rom.

The Nandroid backup is still very useful, though. Imagine this: You get everything working the way you want it. Then a new ROM comes out and you want to try it. Make a Nandroid backup, then wipe and install the new ROM, play with it for a while, and if you want to go back to your old ROM, just restore the old Nandroid backup and you're right back where you were before! Most of us make a Nandroid backup of each ROM once it's set up how we like it. It's also handy to make a backup right before you make a big change (like installing JIT or removing Sense), so that you can fall back if there's a problem.

OK it all makes sense now. I appreciate the clarification on that. I was definitely under the wrong impression. Now I need to go and delete all the backups I have that aren't serving any purpose.lol

I just flashed my first backup from a couple months ago just for fun.
