Root Root HBOOT 1.49 only way for now..

Ah, I tend to look in here to see if the leak has been rooted.

Expect it to be blowing up EVERYWHERE when (reliably) happens, but I thought that was why this forum was created.

Tend to think of this as a forum about root, rather than FOR root...

Guess it makes sense...

Back to trying this method out...

well wherever its posted, good luck getting it to work!

JUST FOLLOW THIS AND IT SHOULD WORK ONLY WAY TO ROOT 1.49 ON
How-TO * Root The Slide * *6/15/2010* - AndroidSPIN Forums
Ill take quick video after i flash recovery
ONLY WAY TO HAVE ROOT on 1.49-ON

Excellent cut-n-paste job.

For the moment though, put me in the non-believer column.

I do think that the second race condition in the Incredible/Slide technique is widespread in Android 2.1 phones; unfortunately, you need to win the first race to proceed onto the second one, and there don't seem to be any credible reports of a single skilled Eris developer succeeding at the first race - despite many of them trying.

There seems to be only one dude claiming this worked - and everyone else who tries gets stopped at the same place - getting adbd running in the recovery boot

I've been looking and reading for a leak root fix for a while. The problem I am running into is that in the bootloader menu and the recovery menu, adb doesn't see any devices. I have the correct drivers installed for when the phone is up and running, but windows see the bootloader/recovery eris as a different device. I am trying to force windows to use the htc drivers to recognize the device.

I'll keep working on this issue and if anyone has any tips to get windows to recognize the device in the bootloader/recovery please let me know.

Thanks for the find and I'll post an update if I manage to come up with something.

not everybody is rooted. i had to send my rooted eris back due to a faulty track ball. the new eris got the ota from verizon and im on here to see if i can root this new phone. i want either evil eris or froyo on my phone and im on here waitin to see when i can root again. i asked on another post and was told i could because i had hboot 1.47 but when i tried, i couldnt. dont assume everybody on here is rooted because at one time none of us were rooted and came here.

I said that because you posted It in the root forums, a place I usually look for info on things to do after you root.
I would expect to find info on how to root in the general section...most other people agreed and that's why there are three or four other posts over there

I disagree... This section is

"All Things Root (Eris) Rooting, ROMS, Overclocking, etc."

Which from that I deduct that telling me how to root would be included in this section.

In fact, there should be a ROOT FOR LEAKERS thread stickied at the top.

Wow, another jab at me and I completely missed it! :(

I harbor no ill will though. Haters gonna hate.

Actually that kinda looks like my old laptop. LOL

Hi Hairston,

I'll admit that I was initially skeptical, and that's what the comment reflected. On it's face, though, it was absolutely true, though: that was your first post over there on XDA. If you took offense, then I apologise.

The image of the monkey, though, was definitely not directed at you - note that clicking on the image takes you to a Wikipedia article about the famous quote about an infinite number of monkeys with typewriters being able to produce the collected works of Shakespeare. More than anything else, it was intended as a comment about the apparent low odds of the method.

But, no doubt there are more than a few people who feel like a monkey now, having spent their entire weekend pounding away at their phone for no joy (me included)... especially if they wrecked their SD card slot or entire phone. (1 report of dead phone, 1 report of bad battery, couple of reports of broken ejectors ...)

Anyways, I'll say it again: if you took offense, then I apologise. I read your reports over there on XDA, and you seem like a stand-up sort of person.
