Possible 2.1 Rollouts in 1 week

Three UK users have yet to receive the part one update as far as I can tell - I certainly haven't and advice to change the date doesn't work either. Presumably this is just the carrier being slow as there is nothing very special about that particular Hero edition...
Me neither. I haven't heard a peep out of Three about the update yet. Holding breath....:)

Waiting patiently, as always

Having been extremely patient I decided to email Three to ask about this yesterday. To their credit they called me back only a couple of hours later, unfortunately the supposedly technical support didn't really understand the question. She did manage to confirm that the 2.1 update isn't yet available, and that there is nothing scheduled for release.
I think it would help if more people query them, because she said my name would be added to a list, and that upgrades were more likely if it was causing issues - which I'd suggest that app compatibility problems (as devs slowly drop 1.5 support) would qualify for.

No disrespect but good luck with that claim with 3.

I am with 3, have been for 5 years or so and i would wager the chances on such an issue being reason for an upgrade to be very slim.

They will argue, as long as you can make and receive calls, text and access Planet 3, you're handset is working. It wasn't so long ago, the internet wasn't even accessible outside of their walled garden of restricted sites.

Would be nice to be proved wrong but 3 are a business and, i'd be surprised if they did this. Since the apps are out of their responsibilty and they make no money on them, they'd have little (business) interest.

For me, 1.5 is working fine, does what i need it to do and that is not meant to be selfish, perhaps i don't *need* 2.1 as much as other's do. I am more concerned they rush release 2.1 on 3 and it doesn't work as it should

I've got a Hero on Orange UK, and have been patiently waiting for 2.1. So I thought I'd call Orange Business Support to get their take on the situation.

According to them, there is NO update planned for the Hero on Orange until THE END OF THE YEAR!!!

Is it a case of us Orange (and possibly 3) customers being left out in the cold whilst everyone else will soon be enjoying the benefits of 2.1???

I think I may be rooting and flashing my phone very soon...

Just repeating what Slug said in another 2.1 thread: Orange denied all knowledge of the last major update until a few hours before they released it. Whether that was secrecy or just lack of communication I don't know.

Looks like another delay guys, T-Mobile has halted the pre-updates rolling out. I don't know if other carriers are affected? Personally, I'm thinking we'll be lucky to get it this year. I will never get an Android again. Nothing but trouble. Far too buggy.

It's not androids fault its mainly HTC not having enough employers to fix the update and has taken this long, as android is the OS created by another company and HTC just run this on their phones. I wouldn't go with HTC again not android, but its up to you.

I sent Three a message on their website about spam SMS being sent to me. Having called them first to report a spam SMS sent to me, the rep I spoke to told me to disregard the text and sign up to TPS - incorrect on both counts. Having sent Three the message via their site, about a week later I got a call from their call centre, who left a message. As it was an Indian, my presumption was that they were just going to give me another scripted explanation which I couldn't be bothered listening to, but when they called again and spoke to me, I was pleasantly surprised that the rep understood my query and took action on it. It seems that some call centre reps are allowed to think more than others!

There seems to be a regular mismatch at Three between what the customer is querying and the scripted answer that the call centre rep is giving. Even if it isn't an official announcement, I like it when a call centre rep is knowledgeable about products and what's going on in their company and can offer just a tiny bit of hope by giving me confidence in how the company treats its customers.
