Droid X pre-order from Best Buy

Don't be stupid, guys. Why stand in line just to preorder a phone from a third party (which will make taking it back later on more difficult) when it will be available for preorder directly from Verizon? No standing in line, delivered to your door, no time off work.

Seriously. I will never understand people who like standing in line. Like the Apple fanboys. Stand in line for 6 hours to get a phone when you can have it delivered to your door the same day (historically, not so much this year)? Really?

Personally, I will never wait in line for anything that I can have delivered to me. Certainly not by choice. My time is more valuable than that.

I will be pre-ordering from Verizon as soon as they are available. Not only will it be quick and painless, it will be delivered to me the same day you can go stand in line at Bestbuy and if I need to take it back for an exchange or because I'm not happy with it, it will be much easier.

I don't understand.

So if I am a current Verizon customer- my discounted phone upgrade date is in September and my current contract ends on Jan 4th, 2011-
how would this Best Buy pre-order work for me?

I am already unsure how the phone price would go for me at VZW since no one seems to know for sure whether they are going to give just people with contracts ending in 2010 the $199 price or if that includes people who just have an upgrade in 2010.

So how will it go at Best Buy?? What will I end up paying for the phone if I pre-order for $50 today (if that's right) and have the VZW upgrade and contract-end dates I mentioned above??

Who said Verizon will be doing pre-ordering? Many people have said they won't be...

They ALWAYS do. Look back at the original Droid and the Incredible. It's pure madness to think that they won't. Also, ordering online typically bypasses the mail-in-rebate (it did with both the Incredible and the Droid), so Bestbuy has nothing on them there.

Guaranteed within the next week or 2, you'll be able to preorder the X online, directly from Verizon, most likely at the rebate price. And you will receive it on the DAY that you can get it in either Bestbuy or the Verizon stores, where you'll likely have to stand in line.

I agree that they usually do it, but take it for what it is worth but I am sure someone in here said on Verizon Intranet site it said no on pre-orders. I don't know if that is going to hold up or not.

And I saw somewhere (can't find it yet either here or HF) that they changed their marketing strategy and will not do pre-orders any more in order to build up the hype (like Apple does?!?)...so the best you can do is preorder at BB, or order online day of release for next day shipping (which is free if done before 4pm in CA). What's one day in the grand scheme of things? Of course, that's if you don't/can't go to the store on the 15th.

Thing is I can't preorder at BB.... well I could but I lose my corporate discount that way from what I'm told. So I'm taking off the 15th and going to the store, if they don't have any I will go home and order one online.

Luckily this month and next, Monday-Thursday I am working 1030 - 7 so I can just get up early and go to Verizon and not have to take off work.

I get a discount from my company too, but not on new phones:mad:. I also get primary plan discount of 26% and 25% off accessories, but to get a phone discount, it needs to be out for a while. Hell, the original Droid is still at $149 for me.
