I keep hearing about how ppl are getting almost 30hrs on a single charge...ive been playing with my evo from launch date trying to find the best way possible..

I have power manager, as well as a.t.k (i should say i only have a couple apps on the ignore list, it kills all other apps that open when the screen cuts off) ..... i know i know there is a huge debate on wether or not to have it. But i wanted to try for myself...and i dont know whats best either way...so ppl please help a brotha out, i want to try to get some of these great results ive been hearing so much about.

Im not tryin to turn my screen all the way down thats for sure.

Some more background: I am running on Launcher Pro. (i just like the set-up better than sense or whatever its called.)

Today i took grabbed my phone of my nightstand (5am)....kept if off charge over night..went to bed with like 95% woke up around 89 or 90% had it in airplane mode all night....went to the gym
ran slacker..texted...got to work watched about 10min of dirty work (movie from the 90's...if u didnt see it go see it classic) yada yada...basic texting not online or anything since then...its now 10:31am
im at 48%.

Ideas?

You have certainly set me straight...no need to be a jerk here. If you dont want to help then dont say a thing dont be dumb about it. I have researched and seen ppl say that its great and others say its bad so being new to droid i was wondering what some ppl were doing that are getting great battery life...perhaps include in ur nonsense what u are doing and if you are infact getting great battery life...ppl need to be nicer.

Again. Why the long post. You insist on running ATK even after bring told not to, after being told it will hurt your battary use.

Now you post asking for help. Try listening to people and maybe they will help you more.

Not until then.

Then you have not done enough research and I am still not willing to help.

The ATK issue has been thoroughly documented. If you are still not "convinced" then no, I really am not willing to waste any more of my time. Just proof you are unwilling to learn.

ATK will kill your battery.

I run Advanced Task Killer Free and have amazing battery life. I can go 10 hours or more while its killing apps in the background.

Auto Kill Level: Aggressive
Auto Kill Frequency: Every half hour
Security Level: High
Ignore List: Advanced Task Killer Free

Where can I see these "documents" you speak of?

Normal should be about 7 hours...really. That's 2 hours of up time and 4 hours of screen time. On the weekends if you turn off Mobile Data when you don't need it you should be around 1d 3hr's +.

Make sure you don't have too many widgets running out of control and set the update frequency for what you do have to something reasonable. For me I've been mostly sticking to the weather widget on my home screens during the work week.

Like today I've been playing music all day "screen off" and my battery is at 70% a little over 4hours of up time, I do have updates running in the background, but they're at like 3 and 4 hours, so they should have only fired about once all day.

One more thing is get rid of ATK, you really don't need it. Something better would be a start up killer.

This is my 2nd EVO and it's running exaclty like my first one given the same settings. The first one has the raised screen issue so I took it back.

I think the OS manges old programs fine. They issue I think everyone is having is when they start up something like Qik, or SprintTV and even when you close the app the service keeps running.

I don't think ATK will kill the service it will just close the app. But the OS will close the app on it's on when it needs the memory, so having ATK running just does it faster at the small expense of a little battery and processing.

By the way have you ever broken in your battery as HTC suggested?
It will help.
i dont think ive ever seen it....is it that thing about the way you charge it and unplug it at some time or something? The factory battery i let die once...after that once it gets to like 20% i charge it up normally. Im a noob in every sense...i have semi rooted(unrevoked) and im using launcher pro tho lol. (niether of which has anything to do with anything.

I read so many post about diff things...the only problem is there is generally such differing views of what actions need to take place in diffrent scenerios. Therefore that leaves me at square one.

Im trying the link by your signature....thusfar with some changes made there

from 100% at 12:16 its now 1:11 and im at 93%....playing around with it.

those settings should work perfectly. also, i need to edit my steps and add in the downloading of something called startup auditor (there is a free version). you can get it to automatically kill crap that starts up everytime you reboot, ie gtalk. i never have to go into running services anymore and kill anything off thanks to that little prog.

Also need to calibrate the battery...
With the phone in the on position.

Fully charge the battery with the phone on... (until the led turns green.)

Once the led turns green, unplug the charger until the led goes off.

After the led goes off, plug the charger back in. When the led turns green , power off the phone.

now.... with the phone fully powered off...

1. Unplug the charger.

2. Wait until led goes off.

3. Plug charger back in until the led turns green. When it turns green, unplug the charger again and go to step 1.

4. repeat steps 1 and 3, 10 times. This may take anywhere from 30 seconds to 30 mins per cycle. Typically only about 1 minute. though.

I use ATK and get excellent battery life as well. I only use it in "manual kill" mode though. My main reason for having it is that there are certain apps(games) that I like that don't seem to shut down properly. There are times when I am in airplane mode and the battery drains a little faster than it should. I use ATK to kill things while in airplane mode and they stay dead and battery lasts forever it seems. Anyway, I have good luck with battery life on this phone.

You can always UNcheck programs that are in the list of apps to be killed, that way when they get automatically killed, it will ignore the unchecked ones.
