Turning on and leaving it on has been a huge help for my battery.

Yesterday and all last night I had wifi on and used my phone lightly for texts and email. After 18 hours my battery was at 70%. The "Running" bar in Spare Parts was at 26%.

On another note, I still haven't figured out how people are using Spare Parts to determine sleep or awake time unless everyone is just using the "Running" indicator and translating that to awake.

I haven't used wifi since the day I got the phone. It seems like it is helpful if I'm in the school basement where there's no cell service (but they have wifi), but other than that... 3G + gps ought to take care of me.

I'll add wifi to the sticky list of phone issues though.

I posted this in another thread, but one of the tricks to preserve the battery life on the Palm Pre is to turn WiFi on and leave it on. It's counter intuitive, but it seems the WiFi radio uses much less power than the EVDO radio, and if WiFi is on and there is an open hot spot in range the phone will use WiFi instead of EVDO, thus using the lower powered radio.

It would depend on the prevalence of open hot spots in the area, but for mast places you get a net savings on power use.

I don't know if it works the same on the Moment, but it's worth trying. I haven't had my Moment long enough to get a feel for normal battery life without WiFi on (three days now) but compared to the Pre, it seems like maybe 1.5 to 2 times better.

After I'm more comfortable with what to expect, I'll run a subjective test to see.
