I think it is interesting that you can't say 1 bad thing about this phone or everyone in this forum will either say "bye" or "trade the phone then" or whatever it is. I have the Hero and when people brought up negative things about the phone i agreed with some and disagreed with others. There is no perfect phone out there and when people are shopping for new phones it is good to hear the good and bad then they can make their decision on which one to buy. I would like to see some "real" likes and dislikes on this phone to make an educated decision. Then i can decide if i should pull the trigger on the powerfull EVO wait to possibly get a 2Ghz phone released sometime this year by motorola? Thanks for all the "honest" posts in advance...(if there are any!!!)

Was this really necessary? What kind of responses are you really expecting from creating this thread?

Nice civil discussion about why no one can say anything negative about this phone? LOL, what a great dream.

Creating complaining threads about complaining in a negative manner in the forum of a hot phone with various widespread issues, half of which can be resolved by a simple software update is recipe for disaster. I wish you good luck on your endeavor.

Simply because this place is just as rampant with (EVO) fanboys and self appointed mallcops as all the other device forums.

It's a whole lot easier just to peruse, find your information, get out and/or ignore rather than even bother complain about it.

One day they will grow up and realize what trolls really are, though its a neverending circle.

No matter this pretty much sums it up right here How To Behave On A Forum - Video

The honest answer to this is because some people are just argumentative... They have too much time on their hands... People can read the title of stuff before they even go INTO a thread, yet after comprehending what the thread's topic is, they STILL choose to go in blindingly and argue away...

Really, if it is THAT bad to be a complainer, why ol why would you go into a thread to complain about someone complaining? That is hypocrisy at the highest level...

I use to moderate my truck forum and it took way too much of my life away... The crap people who run forums have to deal with is ridiculous... I understand if there is unjust negativity on any forum, but honestly most of what I've seen to be concerns are all valid up to this point... The people who go into threads discouraging people to spread the word should find a new hobby... That's just IMHO and that's putting it nicely LOL...

What is annoying is that people should do research and know what they buying. Evo is exactly what I expected and very happy with it. Is it perfect? No. But then no phone is. So no need to complain about what could of been done better. I have not seen any phone without issues yet. See all iPhone 4 complaints for example.

Also negative comments most times are obvious facts so what is the point of posting them.

How are they suppose to research? Would a forum be a good place to start? Or do you trust brain dead bloggers who uses the phones maybe a day or two before typing up the ultimate know it all guides to them?

So if someone comes to say Android forums and research and finds a bunch of constructive debates about build quality, do you think it's actually helpful to see them listed? Albeit if it was a small issue, you'll get maybe a handful of threads... If the forum is TEAMING with them, then guess what, if I was a buyer I'd stay away at least for now...

Negative feedback is just as important as the good ones... If HTC don't get any negative criticism, they would think nothing is wrong and would never work on their build quality... If all you read about was how bad the phones were, then maybe, just maybe they'd give a care enough to fix some issues...

You think they'd admit to the light leak issue as an issue if no one spoke up? Or the battery fix we're suppose to get Monday would even be in the works?

Not only is this forum going to owe these people who send emails to HTC and calls, but the phone itself is going to owe them too... If no one ever spoke up about it, maybe three four times at that, problems would get shrugged off...

What we need to do is tell everyone who feel they have nothing to complain about a new hobby just so they can find a cure for cancer or something and be more constructive instead of discouraging people on how "they" feel about said phone... (or vs said phone...)

I like this phone, but don't think for a second I am satisfied still when my 30 days is still around...

If this phone delivered everything you'd expect it to form the "research" that can be done before release... I'd be a happy camper...

I have hopes though, 30 FPS, Keyboard lag, they'll be fixed...

In the mean time, I'm going to be looking closely at the Galaxy S Pro just in case I might revert back to my old phone just to ponder the idea...

The design of the EVO is just sweet... You can't make a better looking phone in my eyes... However, I'm getting HERO speeds on my EVO and I'm NOT happy so far with that aspect...

Web browsing is pure sex...

To give my take on the original question (as if anyone cares lol) I have to agree with the first response. You have some people who had unrealistic expectations and the phone didn't meet them. Then you have some people who are just anal and like to nitpick about things. I look at it like this, if it doesn't affect everyone, or at lease 80% of the phone owners, then it isn't a manufacturer defect. There are things that are truly issues and things that are subjective.

I have hopes though, 30 FPS, Keyboard lag, they'll be fixed...

This is an example of both IMO. The 30fps is a limitation placed on the phone by HTC that is a flaw.

The "keyboard lag" is subjective. I don't experience it, so it's not a problem for me.

It is not that a person is complaining about the EVO and automatically everyone jumps on them. We all realize the phone has positives and negatives. But negativity will get annoying after awhile.
Most of the time when someone creates a new thread that is negative about the evo it is not a legit concern or question they have. They come here and start bashing the phone above and beyond reason. They they add to their post how they are going back to the iphone or galaxy s or droid ect. They already have their mind made up. They post their intentions in their thread. If you want to take your phone back and get something else then do it. But dont come to an EVO message board and tell eveyone why you think our phone sucks.

To be honest, negative comments are the last thing evo owners want to hear. And it's true for all phones not just us. I go on these forums to hear good things about the evo i.e. updates, tips&tricks, apps. Try going on the iphone 4 forums and telling them that you have to hold your phone sideways to make a phone call. They don't want to hear that. It's the truth, all bias aside.

Some people really do jump down other's throats here in the forum if they express negativity at all. I walked into Radio Shack and purchased an Evo on release day as my first real smartphone- an upgrade from the Samsung Rant tht I have been using for a couple of years or so. I like it quite a bit. Android is a nice OS, the screen is huge and I like a lot of the features. But honestly, the phone is a little wide in the hand and I am still having trouble getting used to the touch screen for text input. And I am not sure that I want to. I can text for my business communications so much faster with a physical keyboard. The Galaxy S Pro pics and specs are looking pretty cool to me right now.

I will take a negative comment on this phone as long as the word "iPhone 4" does not get mention in the same thread.

Of course you know this means that if someone actually posts a negative comment on the EVO here where you've just mentioned the Scottish phone [*], then you've become the cause of what really pisses you off - in advance.

:D :D

There's the problem most times. People that dont have the problem treat it as if it does not exist. However my videos show it happening. So instead of telling someone to stop complaining maybe just not post discouraging words and move on. Or post that there is no problem on your end and be constructive.

There is absolutely no need to tell someone to live with it, pick another phone, or stop posting threads. Unless you are an authority figure in the forum you have no say in what is appropriate.

Let people have freedom to post is the short answer. And no, keyboard lag is not subjective. Nor is raised screens if yours is fine...

Wow. Are you like me and waiting for the 30fps fix? hoping one day it would be fixed? Well if no one ever talked about it and express their dislike, we probably won't even have people working on it right now.

You would have no updates if no one ever talks negative. You think Froyo would be made if Eclair was perfect? someone found things in Eclair lacking and google works on it. If all they get are praises, we would have no progess. Just think about for a second.

How did you think iPhone people got multitask* on iOS4? you guessed it. Cause people comlained about it for 4 generations now.

A lot of people take it for granted that they have been here for a while. They get mad when someone expresses their opinion on this phone vs another. However they forget to think that the new tread they've just made is the first that person had really disccused it with anyone knowledable of what he/she is talking about. Hoping to get other views on the matter. So next time remeber, just because you got the luxury of talking about thephone you like/dislike already, don't take that luxury away from someone who haven't experienced it yet.p

*iPhone multitask is just selective, thus people STILL complain FTW.
