I exchanged my EVO today...

That is great, glad to hear people are getting replacements now. I just swapped mine too. A Radio Shack in the area called to let me know they got a single Evo in.. I exchanged mine for it and I'm super happy now. No light leakage, great battery life, no dust under the screen, no random rebooting, battery cover fits properly, power button sticks out a bit more and the grounding issue is sliightly better but not perfect. So 5/6 problems totally fixed and one a bit better.. I'll take it. This is the phone I was expecting 20 days ago.

It's true guys, the version 3 models are shipping with different LCD Screens. The previous ones are warm tones, and the newer ones are cool tones. Some won't even notice a difference to tell you the truth. HTC went with a different manufacturer for these newer screens because of a high demand I believe. Either way, if you have a new version 3 EVO with no problems, go ahead and enjoy it.

The Epson screens are much brighter and more vibrant.

care to prove your point with a video or just trying to make yourself feel better about exchanging your phone?

according to a youtube video I saw it's quite the contrary. The Epson screens on the new v. 0003 EVOs are washed out, have poor contrast and clearly inferior to the Novatec screens on version 0002 and some 0003 released on launch day.

I am still confused about this whole light leakage thing. I don't see why it bothers so many people. I have light leakage on my phone. But you have to press your face up against it and look down the screen. So basically unless your looking for the light leakage, it can't be seen. When using the phone normally, light leakage is not an issue AT ALL. Just my opinion.

I think some people's light leakage is worse than others. And I believe people are concerned the leakage is a symptom of a bigger issue of screen separation which, from what I've read, could potentially get progressively worse over time.

It's probably covered under warrantly (although not positive since HTC is saying it's a "cosmetic" issue). But I think people are exchanging theirs within the 30 days to ensure they get another brand new phone as opposed to a refurbished one under warrantly.

When my car rattles, I can still get to work just fine. Would I rather not have the rattles at all AND also get to work, yes.

Thats a lame comparison. The rattle would clearly bother you because you can HEAR the rattle when driving. You can't see the light leakage unless your looking for it.

Now if the light leakage was busting out of the bottom like Clark Grizwalds house on Christmas day, thats would need to be addressed.

The light leakage people are having trouble with is in two places.

One is around the edge of the glass below the home button and the other buttons. This one is indicative of screen separation.

The other place is those same backlights you can see if you tilt your phone and look straight down over the screen, but some people's are actually leaking extra light around those 4 leds and it is washing out the screen like 4 spotlights.

OK. I only have the leakage if you look down the screen.

Why do I need to prove anything to you? What I said was the truth. The Epson screens are much brighter and more vibrant. This is why I suggested people to change there handsets out in another thread.

Now while I dont have any pics to prove it, the Evo I just returned (ver 3) looked very dull in color when compared to the one im still using which was purchased on launch day off the Sprint website (ver 2).

When I put the same wallpaper on both the ver 3 was noticably different then ver 2 and I dont mean that in a good way.

This sucks to hear because im receiving my new one tommorow this will be Evo #3. Still using my launch day Evo #1

My original Evo work flawlessy except for the grounding issue which im hearing will be fixed with the new 2.2 Froyo update, seriously considereing keeping #1 if the 3rd on is like the last one they sent. I dont have the light leakage or screen seperation on my original Evo.

Your on point...The version 2 handsets have a MUCH better screen IMHO! Version 3's look washed to me, and the colors arent nearly as vibrant. As a side note, the Version 2 also has a slight Pinkish tone to it, which attest to the term Warm Temperature tones, compared to Cool Temperature tones, which the version 3 has.

:( I have the light leakage by looking down the screen, and at the bottom of my home button, but my screen is still recessed below the bevel on my v.003

Going to keep a watchful eye on it. However I think i'm past the 30 days, as I originally bought a Bold 9650 on May 23rd than exchanged it for an Evo4g June 21st. So I don't know if my 30days starts over or not.

It isn't a problem now but if my screen starts to poke up over the bevel I'll most likely take it back.
