Heres a fun group of HTC eris problems

so yeha. took my eris to verizon cause it was force closing every other time i opened my messages. they factory reset it, and it was good to go for a week or so then it all went back down hill now:
1. when its on charge typeing is lagged so bad my letters get out of order.
2. its force closing just about any application i open
3.it randomly automatically scrolls to the left, either not lettting me get to the home screen, or putting my letters and words that im typeing backwards or out of order.

i dont know what to do. im about to cancel everything and start over with a different carrier

Welcome to the forums.

I have been unable to cause my Eris to behave unusually while on the charger, and I did try.

However there have been reports of those problems while chargin.. sometimes a replacement of the charger and/or cable has been the remedy.

Other times a live battery pull, and still other times a factory data reset worked.

Replacement of the device is usually the next step having failed all the others.

ehhhhh why would you cancel your contract and pay that to go to a different carrier because you possibly got a bad phone? did you not get the insurance? warranty? replace the phone.

yes i have insurance, and it is still under warrenty. but ive talked to a few people about it and they said their new phones had the same issues. but like i said i could be wrong. im going to go to verizon tomorrow and see about getting a enw one. and see how that works out for me.

Good luck. My refurbished actually performs better than the Eris I received with my original purchase.

well thats good to hear. hopefully ill get lucky. with the past two different phones ive had, there has been something wrong with them an di had to replace them 3 times each. im hoping that wont be the case with this phone.

My original phone wasn't "that bad" compared to what I read, so naturally I was a little concerned that the refurbished I received would be "worse off". The first thing i noticed is that it was in flawless condition, then I haven't had a problem with it (if you don't count the bootloader being 1.49). I would suggest that you make sure to retain your SD card, just in case the refurbished does not come with one; or if it does make sure you backup what is on your current card. One other thing, you probably want to factory reset your old phone before you hand it over.

I have replaced my Eris 4 times in the past year because of issues like this and then some. Like my voice receiver not working so no one could hear my on the phone. My suggestion, get a new phone because its not that carrier its the phone itself.
