Reserve your droid x at select verizon wireless stores

Me and my girlfriend stopped by a local verizon store to return her piece of crap Blackberry fake Bold today so we can both get the Droid X in a few weeks.

I just gave it a shot and asked if we could preorder or reserve the droid x on launch july 15th, and the guy that helped us had a notebook for reservations. So there, we have our droid x's reserved for launch day, for those that want to get it from verizon, use upgrades, sign 1 year contracts, and etc.

EDIT:

As Gamble mentioned,

to clarify so people don't freak out, we RESERVED two Droid X's, not pre-ordered. There was no money involved. :D

And based on the descriptions below, it likely was a corporate store.

yeah thats a reseller

That's what I thought too, but then my gf told me that she called Verizon (611 real Verizon) about returning the phone beforehand. She said that Verizon told her that the one we went to was a corporate store.

We didn't put any sort of downpayment to reserve the phone or anything, it was just a sign up binder the rep pulled out from the back. Oh well, either way I'm glad we have ours reserved :D

I'd be willing to bet that if that really was a corporate store, and word got around to the powers that be, the manager of that store might be in a bit of trouble.

I would hope that no one would rat out a store like that. I think stores that offer great customer service like that are going to have a lot of return customers.

A local corporate store is doing something similar for me, but I'm not going to mention their location so they don't get disciplined for making their customers happy.

Oh please don't get me wrong. I am not high and mighty. If I could get hands on one early or in some way ensure I get one on launch day I would take advantage of it, and make sure whoever hooked me up was protected. I guess I was warning whoever to not post the location in which they purchased the phone. Unfortunately it seems as though the OP has already tipped off CS that this location is taking pre orders against company policy.

Yes it does. You sign in on the computers when you go in and that is how they help you. I know the manager there because he used to run the verizon corp store that was in circuit city when I worked at cc. I do know what to look for on the corp and resellers store. The resellers have to post that they are a reseller and they usually have it under the verizon logo. I am not trying to cause any drama but when I asked the manager he said they were writing them in their book and actually said that they should be getting plenty so people should not have to worry. I am going to that area tomorrow and I will take a picture of that store.

That doesn't really constitute a "pre-order" by the way. The store is nice enough to make a binder and hold the phone for you when it comes in. They "reserved" it for you. A true pre-order would have been a transaction and they would have given you a receipt.

I know you put reserve in your title, but I'm just clarifying so people don't freak out. ;)

Actually there are a bunch of Verizon, T-mobile, Sprint, and At&t resellers in my area that look identical to corporate stores. Only difference is that they have less accessories for sale. There is nothing stating that they are a reseller, even the printed receipt says "Verizon Wireless", etc. The only way to know they are a reseller is by asking, or by looking at the little credit card receipt they give you separately. Also, a google maps search will show the reseller's name and not the carrier.

I know what to look for in a corp verizon store. I have avoided the "fake ones" for years. They have the tech support center in the store. The resell stores do not have it. I ONLY buy from the corp stores or online. Like someone else said this is not really a pre-order it is more of a reserve. Another way you can tell if it is a corp store is all of the phones are working and not dummy phones and this one has every phone fully functional and multiple ones at that.

No, sorry, but the verizon in the circuit city's were corp stores. They were not like best buy. I know this because the manager at the Circuit City got transfered to the corp store when Circuit City went out of business. I had long convos with that manager all the time about resellers and how much I hated them. Working at circuit city is how I got my corp discount. We can argue about this forever cause I see there is no changing your mind. I will say it one more time, I only shop at Corp Verizon and I know what the difference is.
