iPhone 4 vs Galaxy S, part deux: HD video playback (video)

It is surprising how Engadget always shows the two screens at real close quarters!! Highly zoomed in pictures for comparison. We know that PPI is not SGS' strength. I would have liked to see both the screens playing that HD video at normal viewing distance. Nobody is gonna bring the screen up to the tip of their noses and watch a video!!! A normal viewing distance test would be an ideal test.

YoutubeThe above is an Italian comparison of the two phones I found. I don't speak Italian so I can only understand very little of what he says but the video shows quite a big difference in color and contrast to the Galaxy S' advantage (the difference could be bigger when it's not filtered through our inferior computer screens as well). Black and white looks downright bad in comparison and the colors look faded.

The iPhone is of course sharper but from what can be seen in that video, and from my general experience, the difference in pixel density will likely be less noticeable than the difference in contrast ratio and colors.

Note that Engadget also hides another flaw with the iPhone in that comparison picture, as they don't show the same thing. The iPhone has a more narrow aspect ratio so you will get bigger black borders when you watch widescreen movies on it. That will make the video even smaller than the pure screen size difference so I guess they need that pixel density.

No video (or picture) will do AMOLED justice, you have to see the display in your own eye, I watched an entire movie (Monster vs Alien) in my SGS, and i have to say it was amazing experience,it was like nothing i seen before, it's look even better than my HD TV and my LCD laptop, any one who i showed the HD playback to, was impressed  and thought the screen it self was HD.

Now as i said before , SGS PPI is not high enough and i wish it was >300 PPI. but that side short come usually show when reading text or browsing not during video playback.

Is Apple scared from Samsung Super AMOLED display? , i say YES :D, and after 1 or 2 years , when S. Job announce an AMOLED display in the new iPhone X, it will be the hottest most amazing thing ever.

And Engadget -as much as i love reading there blog- proven once again that they are a true Apple fan boys :(.
