• Improved text, video, and picture messaging functionality

You just got a bad rep + you hate your phone obviously so your upset.

Theres a big thread on the DInc forums about how cs reps are the best lol.

Yea, you are right, I am upset. I am just fed up with the issues this phone is having. It's embarrising when you go to make a work phone call and the silent call issue rears its ugly head, or you drop the call because the Eris dislikes 3g coverage in LA of all places. I think I did get a bad cs rep, cause I had one guy who was super nice and offered to upgrade me to the INC. I wish I would've accepted that offer.

Phone calls don't use 3G on Verizon. It reverts back to 2G in a phone call. Just sayin'.

Not when i'm using the internet and it jumps to the 1x network all the time. I'm pretty sure there is plenty of 3g coverage in West LA.

I think I read something about this on the "all things Root" section, but cant remember right now,, but would u be able to recieve this updates even if ur phone its Rooted?

You said it drops calls because of it "disliking 3G coverage in LA" though in the other post that I bolded. Dropping calls and 3G issues are unrelated. Now, I have never been to LA, so I have no experience on the Verizon coverage there. So I can't say a whole lot on that.

All I know is that it works perfectly here in South Dakota, even in the middle of nowhere.

No, custom root ROMs (typically) have the OTA update function disabled (so you don't get un-rooted ).

We'll just have to wait for the devs to cook-us up some new ROMs with the fixes...

That doesn't suprise me. I don't think information there gets passed quickly.

I have just talked with a tech suport person on 866-406-5154.
I have complained about the silent bug and asked him about is there
an OTA update lined up for the Eris.
He put me on hold for a while and then said that there is indeed one scheduled for today...
Will it fix our issues - that is a different thing.

Berry2Droid, thanks for the informative post.

I wouldn't expect that VZW would phrase the audio fix any other way...i.e., not admitting fault (it might also be a case where the the issue actually is a hardware one that can be overcome with a software fix and not wanting to point fingers between themselves and HTC).

Let's all hope that is does address the core silent-call issue.

Why would you want to leave a superior system for an inferior one in need of "updates?"

As previously states, rooted phones will not receive the OTA software update as its disabled on rooted roms

Because the Leak-V3 is essentially identical to the OTA-2.1, and is known to be identical in the OTA updating software, it is extremely likely that Leak-V3 users would get the same update.

Note that the OTA updates target specific versions of the phone software - so that explains not only why leakers did not receive the last OTA (intended for 1.5 v1.17.605.1 only), but why a new OTA would not arrive for anyone on Leak-V1 or Leak-V2 - only for Leak-V3.

ps I notice that nobody is piling on to say, "I got it!", but in the past VZW seems to have rolled them out in the evening. We'll see.
