trying to put stock mail.apk back on phone since gmail won't download attachments, trid this in recovery with system mounted and with phone just in disk drive mode with debugging on. can't get it either way. its in the root of my c drive, any help appreciated.

are you trying to push it with adb?

if you throw the apk in your sdk/tools then adb push mail.apk /data/app/ (with data mounted) it should work...

meh, i suck at mount points and such, so i don't know if there's a better place to send it. /system/app seems to be the "cooked rom area" and /data/app/ seems to be the "i'm going to install stuff area"

Edit: I tried installing it. It installs via dropbox (i'm sure you'd be fine with astro too) but it force closes when trying to save my school exchange account. Bah.

Ah, you got the htc mailbox and I got the stock android envelope
With the yellow @ sign lol.

Everything works for you?

From my Incredible Drooooiiiiiid.

its working great, i left the widget out though i didn't like it anyways. i just hate how gmail never lets you download attachments because i'm constantly emailing small files to myself from my desktop so i don't have to constantly plug in and unplug usb.

crimton, have you tried using dropbox for this?

and thanks [OP]. i'm having a stock mail issue as well, info here has been helpful.

i completely agree with DropBox. I used to use the websharing wireless app in order to transfer files, but dropbox does this automagically with a favorite folder on my Win7 lappy/desktop/ and anywhere I might be that's not near one of my comps.

The gmail app does really suck though. Kinda pitiful actually.
