What is this HTC phone Aria? I seen it advertised 4 times yesterday within an hour and a half. I don't think at&t should have android phones for one reason they have the iPhone. So how does this phone compare to the incredible? The phones looks, look like a combo of the evo and the incredible.

Doesn't bother me in the slightest that AT&T is getting some Android phones. The more out there, the more choices people have, and the better technology that will be created because of it.

The Aria is pretty much a gimped up version of the Incredible. Slower processor, 5MP camera, LCD display. At least that's what I think I remember from looking into it.

Wow, a bit of an elitist? Who cares if AT&T has an android phone. If HTC can sell phones through Sprint, Verizion and AT&T, they win no matter which company is winning when it comes to service. If HTC makes more money, then they can assign more resources to research, development and support.

I'm going to go out on a limb and speculate that, other than the iPhone and whatever dumbphones are still around, within 12 to 18 months just about all phones are going to be running Android. No reason for the carriers/manufacturers not to... why pay the licensing fees for other OSes? And with the scalability Android offers, they won't all be top of the line phones either. That's the beauty of it. It's kind of a no lose situation.

Android will be the new BREW.

Not as "mid ranged" as I expected it to be. I ended up with this phone yesterday after weeks of research, but not based off of any of that research...

I wanted an Incredible or an X, but I've got some stains on my credit report so they wanted a $400 security deposit. Couple that with the price of the phone, possibly being pinned to a mail in rebate, and activation charge I was looking at investing over $700 which is a tad above my budget.

Already sharing a family plan with my mother on ATT. Checked out the iphone4 but I prefer the Droid OS. Plus I needed a phone NOW as mine just died, and I wasn't looking forward to mixing with screaming iphone fans later this week for a compromise phone, or dishing out 3/4 of a grand for a phone I wouldn't get to touch for a month becauase of availability, so I bit the bullet and got the Aria.

So going into some face time with the Aria I was expecting to be very frustrated and regretful.

Not so though! The screen has a low resolution but its bright and crisp. I can view small text fine. The camera has no flash so sucks inside but takes considerably adequate pictures outside. The processor is "slow(er)" but the OS is very responsive and games play great. Mine came with a 2gb miro sd card inside and I filled the phone up with tons of games and programs and have only just started running out of room, and that's just the internal storage. I haven't touched the micro yet.

To be honest I don't know yet if I'm going to keep it. I've got a month to decide if I want to upgrade to the Inc on Verizon and it'll almost entirely depend on whether I want to invest that much for a better camera, as everything else the phone does I'm happy with.

Only downsides so far is a lot of program and some os crashing. May be because I've tried out every stupid free program there was last night. Although there does seem to be a portrait/landscape bug where programs crash when you switch. Even core programs like the camera sometimes.

That is just wrong. Most phones now have atleast 384mb of ram. The Incredible, Nexus One, HTC Evo all have 512mb's of it. I doubt they would not have a kernal that would support all that ram.

look around its a commonly known feature of droid 2.1 there are mem mods out there to fix it... oh and stock rom leaves me with about 80 mbs of ram free... so your saying android 2.1 takes nearly 300 megs to run? I certainly hope not.

Have a feeling it's a codename still stuck inside the hardware somewhere; although, a google search showed someone pondering if the name had been changed FROM Aria. So maybe it's an abandoned name change?
Lol yeah just asked google too. Alsopulled my battery to see what it was listed as and found it to have been called an intruder at one time too. Asked google about intruder too.

Naming phones must be a difficult job :D
