Why all the iphone hate? I mean I loved mine for the two years I had it, albeit the phone was jailbroken. Android is better software, but really. It's a piece of electronics, and if someone is happy with it, then good for them.
I just see all these anti apple threads and it irks me, their a company, Google has their downsides too, everyone does. So I say we get rid of all the "iSheep" jokes and all just get along, and maybe people will make up their mind and get an android phone

Welll.. It could have something to do with the "I'm a mac" adds which were horribly arrogant and very annoying.

You base your market strategy around more or less insulting the opposition which also happens to have the majority of the market shares when it comes to computers..

It doesn't matter how well your mac works or how "problem free" it is.. The fact is you are gunna get decimated on many levels. Not because we inherently love windows or android.. but, because we chose those platforms for a reason. They are flexible, they are workable and though they require more upkeep in terms of defrag/clearing the internet history... They offer the freedom to do pretty much whatever you want. And although it is in part due to market shares... Your going to have a lot of technologically proficient people very ticked off at you.

Now there are always fanboys and adds always want you to believe whatever product they have is best..

However, lets examine apples adds.. Pictures of famous people who made history.. Ghandi is a great example.. and the commerical leaves you with the impression apple is great like ghandi.. and by association.. You will be great like ghandi for having a mac.

So they lure you in to thinking that maybe there is something that is better out there than what you've used so far. Next.. they say "it just works!" and the customers bite into it.. Thinking "well ok.. I get a better product, that is cooler and more powerfull sure I pay more but, it is better because it just works!" And notice.. it doesn't appeal to logic.. it appeals directly to the sense of importance in a person, and the need to be able to keep up in a quickly changing electronic world..

Now finally bring in the "I'm a mac" commericals.. where a guy pretty much flat out insults PCs... and now take the combined message of mac.

If you have been following, they lead you to believe your great for owning a product that is "easy to just" and "just works" and is "magical".. notice magical.. they literally disable your logic with that.. And once the commericals begin insulting pc all hell breaks loose because, apple has blatantly told them You are better because you don't have to worry about anything! Your product will just work, to hell with logic, the how why or what!

I have nothing against apple as a business... They are good at what they do.. But, they have formed a near cult like following.. by directly appealing to their customers sense of importance, need to belong, desire to keep up with tech and not feel left behind.

I am so tired of hearing people say "what do you care if someone else has x product? why do you hate it so much"

Well to answer simply... Because, the people who sell such products make life hell on those of us who aren't interested.. Because, we now have to deal with people running around like christian evangelicals preaching the holy word of apple which gets old. fast.

Don't get me wrong.. Even I grow tired of seeing apple hate threads..

However, to say that apple doesn't ask for it would be a flat out lie.

I have nothing against anyone using mac, ipod or iphone.. and I used windows and pc as a comparison but, it goes for pretty much all their marketing strategies.

My comments are in no way ment to insinuate windows users are more intelligent than mac.. My point is when you have 10 to 1 people using pc to mac.. Your gunna have a bigger talent pool to pull from in the windows area..

ANd the fact is.. intelligent windows users will get annoyed with baseless gloating which mimics the apple commericals with no real merit.

not saying that apple is a meritless brand.. However, "it just works" doesn't cut it for me. I'm a comp sci major. why does it just work? How does it just work? what am I loosing in order for it to just work? What happens if it doesn't just work when that is the reason I bought the product?

I like your analysis, Snow Fox.

In addition, it is not difficult to detect the efforts on the parts of companies such as Microsoft and Apple to create not only dependence and "love" for their products, but to demonize their competitors over time.

In my opinion, however, the "iPhone haters," as described by the OP, have programmed their minds to do that by their own choice rather than being told to do it by Android marketers.

I find that at once ironic, amusing, sad.

I like this forum but the constant sniping at iphone is really quite pathetic.

People go on about iphone fanboys but the droid fanboys are just as bad.

I think there are major differences why people choose the different phones, iphones are perceived as cool by the masses, so leave them to it. Let them have their little bit of fun.

I'm really not too sure why people don't just concentrate on what they've got rather than how stupid people who choose iphones are.

the phrase 'get a life' springs to mind.

I can assure you that there are probably 10 Apple fanboys for every 1 Android fanboy.
Apple fanboys have existed for the better part of 20 years, slowly growing in numbers.
Android is relatively new, but the thing that is most astonishing to me is that Android developed fanboys in a VERY short time.

Apple is very arrogant, and I have no doubt that they will be dethroned shortly.
The fanboys will live on, and call everyone else stupid.

When you have to hack(jailbreak) your phone to get it to work the way you want and then praise the device seems a little stupid to me. Plus I really don't like condescending hypocritical control freaks like Steve Jobs either.

But not everyone is like us, I've sold TONS of iPhone to people who didn't even need that much phone, jailbroken or not.
Not to mention the 92 Year old man Otto, who also has one. I'm pretty sure he'd have a hard time figuring out how to use android well, iPhones do have the simple market laid down. BUT I'm not endorsing iPhones, I'm just saying that most people really don't need more than the iPhone supports.
People like us do, and thats why we're here. And yes steve jobs is a little condescending but who cares? Don't stir the shit pot, ya know :p

As Android matures, and gets better than it already is, we really have to keep in mind that Apple sort of forced google to do what they did with Android. WM, (although I never had a WM phone) wasn't really ever in the same league as iOS. Even if you don't like Apple or Jobs, they have to be respected for what they did for smart phones. They made it easy for everyone, not just phone geeks, to have and use a completely capable device. Not all of us have to like the iPhone, or the app store, but it did change the way phones were perceived, and what they could be used for to the masses. Not everyone is a phone geek or wants to be and Apple caters to those people by being easy and comfortable to use. Android is a fiddler's dream, and it is getting better for those who aren't into customizing and toying with their phones. I for one am happy that both Apple and Android are pushing each other to be better and better, because it just keeps benefiting us, the end user and will continue to do so.

I agree with the OP. There are things I like about android and there are things I like about iPhone. Personally there are just more that I like about android, however for many people I can see how an iPhone could be a better choice. However I am glad Apple made the iPhone because it really did kickstart the whole smartphone thing imo. And as long as Apple and Google+manufacturers are battling us consumers are going to be the ones who benefit from a better product.

One phrase by Steve Jobs (paraphrased): "You're holding it wrong"

Yes agreed, I guess it really comes down to marketing and the already established Apple trademark that gives those who are not technically savvy a confidence they will be able to use the device. Even though Apple's claims are bloated and way over-exaggerated, normal people hear it and feel the claims have validity since they don't really know anything else.

I own an iPod and not against the iPhone, I just disagree with the way Apple conducts themselves, in particular Steve Jobs. It's an extreme hypocrisy when they claim innovation yet exhibit anti-competitive behavior which would slow technological progress. Cast out Adobe's lack of open source yet being extremely closed themselves. Controlling market pricing strategies such as e-books or music to give Apple a bigger chunk of change which results in higher prices for the consumer.
What comes to mind is that Steve Jobs is a glorified cars salesman. Throwing out big words, promise, innovation, technology and act as if they invented or was first to bring it to market. It's bloated marketing geared at the ignorant. To me, Steve Jobs words are misleading and I find it insulting to those who know better. But then to act so condescending and tell people they are holding the device wrong, seems so rude and disrespectful. I don't understand why people are so loyal when they act like such d*cks. Apple products are definitely quite good, but maybe I am blind and biased in the other direction because I wont be buying any Apple products until their business practices are more consumer friendly.

The sad thing is, the bigger the Android community gets, the more fanboy-ism I'm seeing in it. But I guess that's how it goes when people get something to be "unique" and "different", even if it means getting something that millions of other people already have. Apple fanboys think they're better than PC users, Android users think they're better than Apple owners, and so on and so on. I love my iPhone 3Gs, but ONLY because it's jailbroken and modded so far beyond the standard OS that it's closer to Android than Apple, LOL! But rest assured, when my contract is up, I'm dropping Apple like a bad habit and getting whatever the teh new h0ttn3ss is next summer in Android!
