I got my phone from Radio shack at 6/4, and this morning after the OTA update my phone was bricked, its a non-rooted phone and took really good care of it.

called up the sprint customer service and told to go sprint store repair center, so i went, and after an hour of waitting and trying, they told me i have to go to radio shack to return my phone, and change a new one since it still in first 30days.

so i called up every RS store around my area and no one have it. and they all have a long list of waitting.

since it was Sprint and HTC's problem, why can't we just swap out the phone from sprint corporate store since they are the one have the most phones in stock. and we have the sprint phone with sprint 2yr contract.
not RS phone or RS contract. its still in 30 days, might as well cancel the contract first and wait to see if i want to go back to sprint.

what do you guys think?

Hard reset your phone....

Turn the power off. If your HTC EVO 4G is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
Hold the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
Press and release the Power button
Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Down for NO
If you selected YES, all data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC EVO 4G. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

I think I could have written this post word for word since it is exactly what happened to me. Radioshack doesn't seem concerned or in a hurry, and Sprint just doesn't care. That's what I think.

A bricked phone has no power to turn off. It is literally a brick/paperweight.

yep, RS don't seem care and i took to the closiest RS to return and tried to cancel my contract, they said i have to go to the one where i bought!!
said its a new rull that RS can only return evo or iphone at the store you purchase...what a bulls$!t. I'm going back tomorrow to where i bought.

Exact same for me as original poster, except change Radio Shack to Best Buy, and change the didn't have any to they did. Good luck to you though.

you are right, sprint corporate will take care their own corporate store customer first and than take care of RS and BB's customer after their own.

I can tell there will be lots return and cancelation since its still in 30 days no question ask returen.

Guys I feel your pain but I don't think it is so much that they don't care as they can't do anything about it. They obviously can't fix it and they can't give you a phone because they just don't have them. Sprint and HTC should be doing something about this no doubt but I think it is just a mess all around.

I know, at first, i feel like i was a ball getting kick around.
but now i feel understand its not store's problem. they just can't help.
so now i just have to cancel it if i don't get the phone asap.
I have no phone to use now and its a big problem!!!

Same boat here- Except for Best Buy. Even when I call Sprint and explain to them that the Evo was sent to Best Buy via Sprint and that Sprint collects the montly revenue from the service contract, they still tell me to get bent.

I'm returning my $500 paperweight today and sticking with Verizon- I now know why their service is more expensive each month- they provide customer service to people that call, unlike Sprint.

Its too bad- I really liked the Evo. Oh well- I'll get along fine with the Incredible.

If phone OS are like computer OS, lack of booting means there is a corrupt file or code in the boot sector. If that's the case, then HTC should put out a downloadable emergency boot fix via their website.

This is sad to hear, and I hope it gets a permanent fix today.

Could be what they are doing since they pulled the official update.

Im in the same boat Radio Shack said they have had so many return/exchanges that all the people on the waiting list are not new buyers but people with bad handsets. Now im on the list also Sprint said they would follow up with Radio Shack but there was nothing they could do.

You've returned 3 phones now, i'd say its time for you to move on to something like a Microsoft Kin.

Funny, I think Sprint should have made it a 60-day return and just made sure to release Froyo in that timeframe. Assembly issues excepting, a lot of the performance items are probably being addressed after people return the phone.

I also think Sprint should allow people who want the Evo but are waiting to simply have a new 30-day from the time of replacement, but they should only do that after 1 exchange.

If our Evos crapped out, I'd probably only have the patience for 1 exchange anyway.
