Newer models still having problems?

I'm still on the waiting list for my Evo, but I'm just curious if those of you who just got theirs are still having some problems that have been reported such as light leakage and the phone coming apart at the bottom? I read somewhere that the model 00002 (I think thats the number) didn't have as many problems as the model ending in 1 and 3. Is this correct? I'm hoping to get a newer phone and hopefully, not have any trouble....

A lot of it is anecdotal evidence. There's a guy here who actually returned his phone because he thought that when his phone was set to vibrate, it vibrated too much.

I have a version 3 phone that has been pretty much flawless.

Get it straight. The vibrate was incredibly loud, as if something was loose and rattling inside the phone. I asked 3 people if they thought it was normal, all said no; including the Sprint rep.

I have a v3 model I got about 5 days after release date and it has light leakage on the bottom half, had been rebooting on its own, and gives me about 5-7 hours of battery life. This is even after i did all the tweaks like switching to cdma auto prl, shut off background data etc. Now that I know i have version 003 Gonna exchange it. What's the worse that could happen, I get the same probs?!?! <sarcasm 8-{

I was going to exchange mine 002 since it had some light leakage at the bottom, nothing major and the grounding issue. Now that the grounding is was fixed with the update, I can probabaly live with the minor light leakage as 003 might have it anyway.

Plus I have heard the newer screens have a more washed out look to them if you get the Epson screen. I think a washed out screen would defintely be worse then some light leakage.....Not sure I m willing to take that chance.

Do a hard reset. I guarantee it will help with the battery and random reboots

I would say some of these returns and issues people are reporting are really just because of these forums. My coworker has some light leakage on his Evo and the only time you see it is if you are in complete darkness and you are looking for it.... Hard and the screen is not lifting. But people read about it and see it and think "My screen is lifting". And they return it.. And then the next one they get they start seeing the same thing or something else and they return that one. And then another. These are often the same people that have "issues" with everything they buy.. Almost always have horror stories of how bad things are. Again some not all. Having said all that.. A little light leakage will not kill you and does not always mean the screen is lifting, the update fixed any screen sensitivity issues, the Facebook syncing bug that kills some batteries, and WiFi strength issues so I think the Op is safe. Oh and when you update... Don't update twice like some of the geniuses on the forums.
