Help contacts info - transferring from wm6.1 to android

can someone recommend couple simple ways to transfer my contact info to the droid X when its realease?

i was told they can do regular phones not smartphone.....am i wrong?

Not sure. You could also try their backup application that uploads your contacts to their server. They pushed the app to my BB. They probably have it for the WinMo phones too.

They have never been able to transfer my smartphone contact list.
Are you syncing the phone with Outlook? or Exchange?
Do you have a Gmail account?
I am on a Samsung Omnia with WM6.1 right now but am looking at the Droid X. My plan is to pull all of my contacts into my gmail account then when I setup the Droid X to sync it should pull everything into the phone. Gmail can read a CSV file which you can export from Outlook. But I have not tried it.
Anyone else gone through this yet?

Woah, woah! CSV files? Trusting a Verizon desk monkey to transfer all my contacts? No, thank you. It's waaaaaaay easier than that, guys!

Little known fact: gmail supports activesync. Yes! It has since forever (they don't make a big deal about it anymore, since they're pushing Android now, but you've been able to do this for years). Just follow the instructions here (https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886) and your Windows Mobile phone will sync all it's contacts with your gmail account. Easy peasy.

And, of course, once you've done that and you get your new phone, Android plays extremely nice with gmail. Your contacts should automagically sync once you set up your Android phone.

I checked the link and that is how I have my gmail account setup on my phone but it does not support contacts only email, or at least I have not found the setting that supports the contacts. But thanks for the suggestion.

Now there was an article I had found about gmail emulating an Exchange server but I dropped Exchange support because VZW charges you $15 a month to connect to Exchange corporate email so I have not tried this connection feature of Gmail. I might but be warned that if you do it will ERASE everything on the phone so have a backup copy in an Outlook PST file or through Microsoft My Phone. I would think someone would have an app that could do it but I have not done a search yet.

i have an omnia and use activesync to sync contacts with outlook.
i plan on syncing my with outlook again when i get the droid x.

Yeah. Thats the link I found and was going to post. Thanks for getting it up before I did. Its working great and it did not delete anything just took what was off the phone and uploaded to Gmail.
Can't wait to get a Droid X and make the move to Android. I have been reluctant but MS is slacking and don't think there Mobile Phone 7 will be much better. They are way to far behind.

So how do they even know you are syncing with Exchange? It is just another data connection. Now if you want it to be integrated into your works LAN then yea I can see that.

My guess is packet filtering. They do the same thing with BES connections. There is an extra charge for "corporate email".
