[GUIDE] Ripping YouTube Videos for offline playback on your EVO

ok so I wanted so show a friend the new Lady Gaga video on my evo (yea I know, I'm cool) However I noticed it wasn't available for mobile playback as well as a number of other videos. Here is a very simple solution.

Step 1
You need firefox (if your still on ie, you should switch to firefox anyway)

Step 2
Install Easy YouTube Video Downloader HERE

Step 3
Once installed, load up your favorite music on youtube such as Alejandro!

Sttep 4
You will now see a new set of links below the video as shown below
gagaib.gif

Step 5
Click MP4 and it will instantly start downloading without doing anything else. I have tried the other formats and have found mp4 to be the best for the evo.

Step 6
Once the video is down downloading, locate the file, connect your evo with data cable, make sure to select disk drive on the screen, open up the removable drive from my computer, make a folder called Videos, drag the file you downloaded to the folder, close the window and disconnect the cable.

Step 7
Open up your Videos folder under All Aps, you will now see the video there with a thumbnail and you can now play it offline.

Conclusion
The only reason I did this was because some of the videos I couldn't play back via the YouTube app, but it is nice to have them saved so your not using data not that it really matters but will save on battery and loads instantly. I also tried 720P and couldn't get it to play on the evo but I think the MP4 format looks just fine on the evo (depending on the source of course) and it also doesn't take up very much room. Best part it it's VERY FAST to do this, no re-encoding or doing all this other crap to get it to play. It's plug and play

enjoy :D

just so you all know, this is illegal and violates end user rights of people who upload their videos, they no longer have control over them once you download them, which is what makes it illegal.

on that note, i would stop talking about this and close the thread since it violates phandroid's terms and conditions as well

You could go cry about it in the corner. You wanna throw people in jail for putting a video on there own device for there own personal use?

It's all relative. When you upload a video to youtube, they gain the rights to everything. When a video is shown on Fox News or CNN, they are violating rights also if home users have a DVR and record the video.

well someone's kinda a dueche... i was just warning you your violating phandroid AND youtubes terms and conditions, and that probably aint gonna go over to well for ya, but since your a big roid rage type of guy im sure you can handle yourself db

yea someone is,

There is no reason you need to come in here and run your mouth like that. I'm just trying to be helpful, I suppose I should throw out my DVR as well. If people wanna read the terms themselves they can, they don't need a monkey like you going bla bla bla. Just shhhhh and go find something else better to do with your time.

I downloaded a video for my own use to playback on my evo. I'm not selling it, copying it or doing anything else I shouldn't be doing it. If you have a problem with it I could care less, just go be a troll elsewhere.

If it makes you feel any better, I bought the song off itunes. I suppose you want to tell us all the things we can and can't do with those songs too huh.
