side note: i posted this in the moto x forum too. Thought i'd post here since i know alot of you tried to switch out your order for the droid x

Soooooo! Waited since june 4th for my incredible to get here by my promised ship date of 6/25. 6/25 passed and while calling to bitch about the wait, they said i could swap out my order for a droid x. That i could just have them cancel my incredible order and preorder the x. I did it. She said she didn't have a confirmation number for my preorder or anything but that she would text it to me the next day (this was sunday, so the text would've come monday). Well, it never came. So i called verizon last night to confirm my preorder of the x and they said they saw it in the system and all was good.

Just a few minutes ago i got an email saying my droid incredible has finally shipped. WTF?! The incredible was all i could think about for weeks and weeks and it didn't ship. Now that i have another phone in mind, it finally decides to ship? So i call 611 and she tells me i can reject the shipment, BUT...that "the other reps that told me i had a preorder for the x were wrong. I don't. Because nobody can preorder the x from verizon and that i'd have to wait until it's release on july 15th to order it."

So...what the hell is going on? I'm gonna call verizon back a couple more times and see if i get different answers. But really, their inconsistencies are giving me a headache

UPDATE: Called again, explained the situation and she acted like i was crazy for even thinking i could preorder the droid x. She said verizon isn't accepting preorder for the x because they don't want a repeat of the droid incredible backorder situation. Only place preordering is bestbuy. So if i wanted to keep my upgrade status, i would have to reject my shipment when it gets here on thursday

Goddamn verizon...why do you like messing with my head so much? Can anyone else confirm this. I'm so pissed i'm calling back AGAIN and seeing if i get the same answer. If i do, then i'm giving up for now and just rejecting shipment

Verizon has never offered pre-orders on the X and to my understanding they don't plan to.

I really don't understand the logic in anyone who has ordered an Incredible prior to 6/20 canceling their order to wait for a phone that won't be out any sooner than 7/15.

If you could wait till then, why not wait for your Incredible to be shipped? Especially considering the X's specs are not in any way superior to the Incredible.

I am in the same boat.... at first i really was really really excited about incredible not know anything about droid x, ordered Inc on 6/7, still waiting.... i have heard pretty much every posible action step, from refusing from fed ex, going to actual physical store with receipt and cancelling order...

In the meantime ive been doing research and it seems the Inc has mostly really really positive feedback.... when i just started this search for a new phone, i was just hoping to have something that wasnt an embarrasment compared to iphone.... from what ive read it beats iphone 3g and rivals i phone 4... i probably prefer to have a smaller size, so im probably going to try out the Inc

I was told the same thing, Verizon will not pre order the droid x. I was also told to deny the reciept of my dinc or activate the phone, if it is within the 30 days and you can take the phone into the store and swap the phone out with the droid x and pay a $35 stocking fee.

Unless you already swapped out a piece of shit ERIS, then you have to refuse it from FED EX

Called again, and of coarse, a different answer! So now the story is: droid x is available for preorders, but they don't have any information regarding price or availability. They even stated that the phone releases july 15th, but they don't garauntee shipment on that day. So, i would've been able to preorder, but my incredible is getting here on thursday. I'd have to reject shipment, wait for them to receive it and THEN preorder the x. Which can take up to a week. So...yeah, this is fun? Wonder if i could just get the incredible, use it and have fun with it for a couple weeks and swap it out in the store for a droid x +restocking fee. Hmmm.... i should call back a few times and get these calls on video. Youtube would get a good laugh

Yes you can...you have 30 days from date of activation to return your inc...they will waive the restocking fee if there is no usage on the inc...but if you've obviously been using it to see if you like it and go to exchange, then you have to pay the 35 restock fee. The phones cost the same anyhow. My source of this info is executive relations guy i have been dealing with. So checkout the inc, and if you don't like it, go exchange. GOod luck!

Thanks kwall. I'm having a hard time trying to decide. Leaning more towards the x for the bigger screen and 24 gigs of space preinstalled. I just hope i don't play with the incredible for a couple weeks in hopes of exchanging it and when the x comes out they're totally sold out, leaving me with a phone i don't want. Risky business

Similar story here, ordered an Incredible on 6/3. Added to my GF's account. She called in to ask what would happen IF we canceled to wait for the X, they said they could but we said DO NOT CANCEL. Well those idiots canceled it on 6/19 without telling us. Then they still shipped it last Friday, again, without telling us only to retract the shipment mid way and have it returned to them. So, ordered on 6/3, deleted somehow on 6/19 and still no refund.

I will never, ever, ever order a phone from these morons again. Heading to Best Buy today to pre-order the X.

I called yesterday and canceled my Dinc and My wife's Dinc order, and the lady said that they may or may not be able to cancel. Our ship date is 7/12 so why would they not be able to cancel? She said that she would get a confirmation within 24-48 hours. So Friday I should have an answer, if not I will be playing some serious hard ball and considering going to another carrier and taking my 5 other lines with me.
This is complete B.S!

Just my two cents - I've had and INC on order since June 10th, Verizon REP via the VW store ordered it on the 14th. I've been by there once to check the status of the order and it states (which from what I've been told) my Incredible will ship on July 14th. As I confirmed this he also mentioned "out of the blue" that people could "swap out" their Incredible for the new Droid X with NO RESTOCKING FEE. I asked him why, and he stated since the INC has been so late in delivery they are giving people the chance to have the "latest and greatest". I'm not sure if this means you have to take the phone directly to the store upon receipt, reject it all together when the phone arrives (if shipped) or you still have 30 days to return, even if activated. I plan to find the answer to that question soon, I too am in the same boat.

Just my 2 cents

Any hints on canceling my DINC order? Just called Verizon 2 times in a row and talked to 2 different CSRs. First person had the supervisor helping her and after trying for 35 minutes they still couldn't cancel the order. They said it might be because the phone is on its way to me. There is no way that's the case because people who ordered well before me still haven't gotten theirs.

Called the 2nd time and the woman told me that she put in an "order" for my phone order to be cancelled but it will take 3-5 business days for it to happen.

This all just seems incredibly asinine to me. Is there no way for them to just go in and cancel an order out of the system??? It takes 5 business days for this to happen?

Is there any secret language that I can use to get it cancelled? I am going to be out of town all month and won't be here to refuse shipment on the Dinc.

I had ordered the phone on 6/2 in stores and was given no shipment date- just by the 23rd. I called yesterday to switch my order to the Droid X but they told me that you couldn't preorder the phone at this time. Unfortunately what the customer rep failed to tell me was that the phone had already shipped and was going to be delivered that very same day! When he canceled the order, it went straight to FedEx who had left a doortag at my apartment and they sent it right back before I even got home. Now why couldn't someone have sent me the shipment information like every other place where you can buy things online?? Anyway, the point I'm trying to make is that they should be able to cancel your order no matter where it is and you can't change your order. You can only swap the phone once the Droid X is in stores and you'll pay a restocking fee if you used the Incredible already.

This is craziness, you get to have your order cancelled when the phone is already on the truck and they are quoting me 5 business days if it gets cancelled at all. I can't imagine the shipping fees that are getting swallowed by shipment refusals, compared to adding some kind of button to the inventory system that removes an order with a single click.

It wasn't even a shipment refusal. I had called FedEx because the doortag "mysteriously" disappeared and they said the shipper had asked to get it shipped back. You should keep calling until you get a rep that knows what they're doing, since mine miraculously was able to pull it off the truck.

The number I called was 877-421-0013, in case you used another number
