I got my evo last Friday and I have noticed a dead pixel. It's on the e key when the keyboard is up and can only be seen on a white screen. My question is should I exchange it or is one dead pixel nothing to worry about? It looks like a little purple or red speck.

Your the only one who can decide if it's "nothing to worry about" If it bugs you then take it back, if it doesn't bother you then keep it.

However, if you are going to take it back, go get on the list now. You will probably have to wait for the next shipment of phones as most places are out of stock and have a long list of people waiting for new & replacements!

I would probably tolerate it until close to the end of your 30 days, then exchange it for a new model when supplies are replenished with hopefully more reliable phones. If you wait till after 30 days they won't take it back as a certain number of dead or stuck pixels are considered within spec. The only way around it (after 30 days) is to purchase a no deductible warranty and smash the phone...

I would not tolerate a dead pixel. But, be prepared to get flamed pretty hard. Apparently (according to the users on this forum) you are supposed to 'tolerate' such defects.

As for me, dead pixels was not something listed in the 'features' column; so I'd get a new one.

I agree. I pay for quality. If there is a defect I exchange.

Does anyone notice the 4G logo kind of shitty looking? It looks like a gif file and u can see the roughness in the logo?? Idk maybe its bc im a designer and expect clarity, but i think thats sloppy.

They can't fix them. I hate dead pixels! That is the one thing stopping me from exchahging my phone because of light leakage.

I would return and try a new one. I would also tell them there are other things wrong with the device as they will tell you they gice themselves a certain percentage of dead pixels before they consider it a defect.

You should be in your 30 day window, so you should be good for an exchange or return if they give you a hard time.

I have one dead pixel on the right hand side. Can I get a new phone or do they just fix it?

Tex

Seriously? If thats your only issue I would keep the phone because you can be certain that there will be other issues with any replacement that you get. They might replace it if you are lucky but I doubt it since there is a shortage and they definitely won't fix it.

You can try some of These pixel fixer apps for the android.

Usually a dead pixel is just a screwed up sync between the image output and the pixel itself. They might be able to correct the 'dead pixel'.

So I love my evo was about to root it and yesterday I noticed a shining pixel...

Today it died I guess it no longer shines its dull and is one color.

I go to my local sprint store and was told they could not help me because I bought it in VA (just moved to KY).

I need to contact my VA store and see if they will switch it for me. If they do they will give me a refurbished one.

I will have to send my phone out to them if they do switch it out and they will send me one back from what she said 7-14 days.....

Is this for real I came to sprint from AT&T because I heard the customer service was OUTSTANDING.

So anyone have any comments that could help this?

Thanks

P.S. This forum seems nice has a lot of good info, I have been lurking here and there. :)

Just got off the phone with sprints customer service.

After purchasing the phone I moved 12 hours away and they just told me I am SOL.

Awesome Sprint!

Edit just to let everyone know.

I talked to a customer service rep and a supervisor who both told me I would have to drive back to the store on my own that is 12 hours away when they *might* exchange the phone.

Otherwise they could not help me what so ever.

They also did not have my phone purchase on file.....

I asked why they could not answer so I checked my debit history at my bank and yes I did purchase them from sprint =P
