rediculously choppy homescreen

Anyone else having this issue? I mean if I use Openhome which i cant stand the homescreen is flawless... But if i used the default android homescreen the phone is so choppy its disgusting. Now a coworker of mine has the droid and his seemingly doesnt have the same issue. It seems much more crisp when swiping to or from left or right 2nd and 3rd screens. If i put a wallpaper on there its even WORSE... It really sickens me that the screen is this laggy but ONLY on the homescreen everythign else is seemingly good. Any ideas?

Also heres what I really dont get. If I load up OpenHome with the exact same stuff minus my beautiful widgets clock and weather it is so amazingly crisp. even when I move up the applicaitions bar. hell i even removed the beautiful widgets clock and weather to see if that was the problem then rebooted my phone...Nope... Openhome is even faster then the homescreen wtf is wrong.

I was forced to do a hard reset. After that It was weird because it remembered my custom wallpaper that I downloaded using the backgrounds app. Still choppy. I went back to the default wallpaper, which made it smoother but still nowhere near as smooth as the eris... Although with the default wallpaper i feel like it is just a poor scrolling algorithm more than sluggishness. But adding any resolution custom wallpaper should not come close to slowing the scrolling down with the specs of this device....

I definatly noticed a major (even more then currently) slowdown on the homescreen when using the Backgrounds program and downloading a background. Removed the background and unisntalled problem adn it was alitlte better but sitll as you said shouldnt be slower with these hw spec.s

First off...if it is worse than openhome I would take it back. I installed openhome and it was similar performance as everyone else reports..only a smidge of stutter.

2nd..this has been a known issue with this phone since well before release. Did you guys do any research at all?

New technology comes with new bugs. You are right, your friends MyTouch might have a flawless screen, but your friends MyTouch cannot do the things the droid can the way the droid can. The Droid also has a new OS 2.0...the only phone sold with it on the market. When Windows Vista came out, it had bugs XP didn't amirite?

New technology = new bugs. If people cannot handle dealing with a bug or two until a firmware fix irons them out, they shouldn't buy things on the first day and wait on the second or third generation.

Not trolling, just saying.

More so trolling... But regardless I did the research on the phone so I knew what to be expecting. however this "slowness" is not slowness this is like 1993 Compaq slow. Its choppy as hell, this isnt something ANYONE should have to deal with. I had seen every video available of the phone prior to release and it was nowhere near this bad. I understnd there are going to be bugs etc but this isnt a bug this ruins functionality. And regardless of what the droid can do better then MyTouch atleast the phone can do the most simple feature ever flawlessly...change the home screen...

Keep in mind that the Android OS has to keep up with more pixels than most phones out there. Mine runs flawlessly so it might just be an isolated problem among some phones

That was another issue I was thinking aobut aswell, but if some people are having no issues and others are having major issues... Theres gotta be something wrong. Ide hope theres a fix for it soon... i know the OTA firmware is coming out on Dec 11th but that isnt soon enough nor does it say anthing about possibly fixing these issues.

Meh, I guess pointing the obvious is trolling these days. But, if its that bad and you cannot handle it..take it back..get something else. Try a Droid later.

New release Blackberrys lately suck in the bug department.

The Iphone has its quirks (Hell it couldnt send photo messages until recently)

Palms WE ALL KNOW have their downs and...ups.

I just don't think people should pass judgement 6 days later...but if you cannot take it and it bothers you..take it back! Wait 2 months and hopefully the firmware will be updated to your liking.

funny to me because i have yet to see a single video showing all this lag on the phone you talk about on youtube. there really isnt any lag on this phone, true its not as fluid as some others but remember its running 2.0 and a much higher screen resolution than any other phone out there. Put 2.0 on your wifes Eris and see how that goes. Eventually everyone will be on 2.0 at some point and im sure those weaker phones wont be nearly as responsive as the droid.

Well primarily all reviewer's had stated that the phone did have some homescreen "lag" but lag was relative to what it was being compared to which was the iPhone etc which is crisp to do most everything. The "lag" i experienced initially was minimul just monday i was talking to a friend and siad well all the lag they had stated you see on the homescreen is non-existant but as i continued to add stuff its definatly apparent. I understand tht the more you load down a phoen etc it will cause a certain amount of lag but this was completly un-usable it was running at liek 5 frames per second it took forever. It has since gotten alittle better but is still horrible. I dont know if my phone is bad or what but this morning it was way worse then it had ever been.

I have 52 apps on my phone in total and it runs perfectly. You may have a defective processor or something. Take it to VZW and ask them if it merits an exchange

What do you mean GET real? If its choppy the all the visual aesthetics of the phone are shot... if software fixes it then great, soemthing needs to happen sooner rather then later.

Yes get real, to the point of returning the phone? Definitely not a deal breaker. I'm sure you all saw the reviews detailing this and yet you still opted to buy it. Well don't complain about it now, it's actually not that bad.

Try a factory reset, and if it is as bad as you say then return it. There is a lag but it shouldn't be disgustingly bad.

I actually completed a factory reset 5 minutes ago and it is completly setup again. Im still running into the same exact issue. I should have just returned it yesterday for the dust under the screen.
