Here's the meat of the story, taken from the 2nd page:

Android 3.0 Gingerbread will be released in mid- October (around 15 -16th), 2010. First handsets shipping in November/December – for the Holiday Season.
Minimum hardware requirements for Android 3.0 devices are: 1GHZ CPU, 512MB or RAM, displays from 3.5” and higher. (We all, of course, heard that Android handsets with 2GHz CPU’s are coming)

A little off topic, why would you want flac support on a phone?

If your listening to a track on your phone through some headphones can you really tell that much difference between flac and an mp3 at 192kbps?

Probably it means that Google UI will be so good that it does not make sense to modify it, but it does not say that Google will exclude possibility for vendors to fine-tune UI.

So I believe that vendors will still remain their hand on UI, but maybe at lower scale.

I doubt google will stop vendors from making custom UIs. Just because the default UI is much better doesnt mean HTC and Motorola should stop making their own overlays. They can simply work on making Sense and MOTOBLUR even better than before!

I just saw something in the news about an Android tablet by Cisco:

Cisco Announces the Cius, an Android-Based Tablet | Notebooks.com

There were plenty of Android tablets announced to be launched this year. It is nothing new.

What will be interesting to see is how Google will manage to implement some better energy saving modes in their tablets...

Intel Atom and Tegra 2 based Android tablets will be very powerful competitors to iPad, but they are supposed to live somehow longer then 5-12 hours, which is currently the case.

So come on Google!!! Bring us some long lasting great Android tablets!
