Here are a few issues i felt with the stock contact app which need to be addressed:

- MICROSOFT EXCHANGE CONTACT SYNC. - they should not release any smartphone that does not have this feature.
- Manual/Forced Link with Facebook Contacts. *BB does it. I hate it when BB F******[users] tell me something my phone doesn't do:mad:
- Set Priority for which account details to give preference to. <i.e. same contact in 3 accounts (gmail, Corporate and Facebook), ask user which account info is displayed/stored on the phone.>
- Select/Enter Display Name (other than Full name) on the phone e.g. Dad, Bro, Sparkles...
- Contact Groups i mean come on...
- Copy one contact from one account to other i.e. corporate to G-mail, Facebook to G-mail and vice versa

All these options should be stock... NO excuses.
Add below if you think others should be there.
Secondly, how can this be communicated to Google Android team???

2) All my facebook contacts are synced... Installed facebook, and poof. Long Press home -> Folders -> Facebook Phone book

3) It stores all, and you pick a default. Make sense to me.

4) Change their name to what you want? I don't get this complaint...

5) Fair enough. That one IS kinda lame.

6) What is the use of this even? I'm honestly curious.

1. If you're not using Activesync OTA, you can pretty darn easily export your contacts to Gmail using Google Sync, and you're done in five minutes. If you're using corporate exchange, contact syncing is automatic.

2. Agree, need a more selective way of adding Facebook contacts rather than the all, some or none choice we have now.

3. You do know that if you edit a contact, then hit the menu key, there's an option to split the contact back out into the sources it came from...you can then edit/delete those individual sources that now show as separate contacts, and also merge them back together.

4. See above, make a new contact, call it Bubbles, merge it into Bob Ubbles, or just change Bob's name.

5. Yah, miss that from my BB days.

6. There's pluses and minuses to keeping contacts segregated, especially when everything is syncing live OTA. That said, it should be an option, but it can be simulated using Google Desktop Sync.

And finally, keep in mind that it's a Facebook issue that keeps you from editing (or really saving) contact information about Facebook users, part of that whole privacy paranoia, which goes beyond the design of the Facebook application and integration.

2- The Facebook Contacts remain Synced as long as the Full Name Matches EXACTLY. Which leads into 4. But infinitely more important and i quote:- "*BB does it. I hate it when BB F******[users] tell me something my phone doesn't do"

3- I see your point, but doing this for every contact is just wasting time it should be quicker though a default option and then the manual option. And now that i think about it there should also be an option to view contacts by Account they are stored in. <this might be solved by Contact Groups>

4- Besides the above FB issue, when ur sharing contacts, u cant send the contact nickname with it. All im asking is that "Display name" should or could be different than the Full Name. when sharing, have the option to pick and choose contact data which is to be sent.

6- This won't be used on a daily basis but will help when changing accounts i.e. changing jobs so import all current corporate contacts into a G-mail account.

1- I want to keep corporate and personal (G-Mail) contacts separate (not all but most). Secondly, I want OTA sync with corporates as well, sometimes they are edited on the computer and sometimes on the phone, though phone is the more likely suspect but i shouldn't have to keep track of what i have updated. The way you are suggesting is more of and overwrite than an actual sync. Though a good workaround but not a solution.
3- I did not know that but what if i want email and pic from FB and cell number from phonebook and work phone and work email from corporate directory??? extreme case i know but i have a few like this.
4- See 4 above. Same Reasons.
5- Damn it!!!
6- I know that FB does not allow contact info to be edited, did not know it couldn't be saved. Lets leave that out. but option to copy contact(s) between corporate and gmail using the phone should be there.

What is Desktop Sync, does it show corporate contacts as well. when i use phone portal to access contacts it only shows G-mail contacts??
I checked out Desktop Sync but it only talks about syncing calendar, not contacts which i'm more concerned about. Secondly its syncs with G-mail not my phone.
