Xperia X10 software update…..over-the-air

June 30th, 2010

Hi all,
Many of you have been asking about the software update coming to the Xperia X10 this summer and we are pleased to share the details of it today.
This update will be gradually rolled out across our markets over the coming weeks, pending the completion of quality approvals for individual markets and operators. The first updates are now live across selected markets. Please check with your local Sony Ericsson customer support when the upgrade will be available for your market and network.
When the update is available in your market you will receive a message in the notification bar of your X10. The easiest way to get the new software is to accept this update – you can use your mobile network connection or a WiFi connection for the download. Alternatively you can update your phone using your PC – please visit Sony Ericsson | New software updates | Update Service and PC Suite and follow the instructions.
This update focuses on improving the general performance, speed and responsiveness of Xperia X10. For example, there are speed improvements in messaging tasks and camera UI. In addition we add a free back up and restore application so you’ll never lose your settings and information. In selected markets, PlayNow™ with premium apps and games will also be added.
We hope you like these improvements. Please continue to interact with us. We listen to your feedback.

Im guessing if the Rolled it out everywhere at the same time, their server's wouldnt be happy about it, hence the staggerd roll out?

nope its because vodafone for example have to add fixes to the software they added to the phone after sony gave it to them so if they don't patch update for there apps it will never come to your phone i have had some big arrguments with customer services over this branding bullshit

i done mine (after unbranding) over the air the other night...worked out ok.

Seemed a little faster but its like a pc - when u first install windows its really fast, once you start using it and installing stuff etc it starts to slow down

Can not see any major difference except when i get a text message i get a little envelope in the status bar that i cant disable :(

I am also a Mac user. You can not do it through a Mac. I had to use someone's PC, download the Sony Ericsson Update Software and then do the download. It worked well and was easy to do however you need a PC.

I don't know if your area/carrier has an update available.

Sorry,

Could hardly do 8 hrs without charging before. Now on my 12th hour and still has 42% left. Sent approx 30sms, and approx 20 minutes of calls today, besides the usual emails etc. To me that is great. As long as I can do a full today without charging I am happy. At night I charge it, not sure why some care so much if it doesn't last days... It is a smart phone after all. Thanks sony. Now go work on 2.2 update so we can get it soon.
