Hi, folks. I'm coming to the Evo from the iPhone (pre-ordered the white one at BB yesterday). I commute 2.5 hours/day, and use my iPhone to listen to music while in transit. I'm looking for a good pair of earbuds that have a mic and button to end calls, pause and play music, and skip through audio tracks. I've searched the forum, and some people use eymotic's hf2s and others use klipsch s4is. While some people claim to use these earbuds, no one has definitively written about how the mic and button actually work with the Evo. If anyone uses these earbuds (or other ones) can you please tell me how the mic and button functionality work with the Evo?

Thanks in advance!

Many earphones will work to some degree but rarely identically on Android phones vs iPhones. The reason isn't the phones, it's the OS code for the music players. Android's OS and music player has lagged due to fragmentation of Android versions, and no earphone makers likely see it worthwhile to develop and sell specifically for Android phones until that changes. Can't blame them - who'd want to make headphones that may not work within Android phone upgrades that have come every 6 months. That's a formula for sales flop and customer service complaints and returns.

That said, most of the issues that I've come to accept may not work in some sets don't matter. In the end, I can live without full music player control. What matters though is: 1) sound quality of earphones and mic 2) not tripping up the phone when switching from music play to calls/other apps 3) stop/pause/skip+/skip- 4) earphone quality/durability and 5) cost.

With all that in mind, I've narrowed my list down to the following three headsets with mics: 1) Klipsch S4i 2) Sony DR-EX300ip and 3) Ultimate Ears Super.fi 5vi. All can be had for under $100 and others have confirmed they match up well against the 5 criticals above.

Do you know if the Sony DR-EX300ip headphones work with MixZing?

I got these yesterday and can report that the controls work with MixZing for the following: Play/pause songs, skip to next song, answer call, refuse call, hang up call. Volume keys do nothing and the triple press that is supposed to skip back a song doesn't work.

I am happy with this though, hopefully a future update to music apps will include further support for the additional features.
