Root 2.2 Car Home Help - Assign Home Key to Car Home on Dock (Like 2.1)

Like it says.

On the car dock the "Car Home" was default to the home key on the Droid. If I backed out of Car Home to get to an app or something, I would just touch the Home key and it would get me back to car home.
I really need this to happen again - road warriors will understand.

Yeah, actually its really my only disappointment with Froyo. Seems like I'm always having to mess with my phone when its in the car dock, a lot more than with 2.1.

In 2.1 didn't the regular home screen stay awake in the car dock?

Do you think 2.1's cardock.apk would work.

edit, I don't even see CarDock in the system/app folder, guess not.

If you use the car home app, while in it, if you back out to an app or something it will default back to the car home.. I just tried it

I use cardockV2 from the market (free) I like it much better than the built in app. It also has 5 screens and you can customize it how ever you like

unless I'm misunderstanding what you want to happen, when I'm in the car home app and press the home soft key, i return back to the car home. Not sure if this is something that changes between roms, I see that you are using a jrummy rom, inssane. I'm using BB.4.

I'm on BB also. Now to get to other NON Car Home apps you have to exit Car Home, once this is done the only way to get back in the Car Home app is to launch the Car Home app. Before Froyo if you were in the car dock the soft home key would always take you back to Car Home.

Not if you exit car home with the car home exit button. I can't just "back out" of the car home, I have to exit then home key doesn't get me back.
Exiting doesn't throw it in the background llike it used to.

gnath, thanks for the tip on the app, this is perfect for me.

Your welcome I really like this app but for some reason most peeps wont even try it. Its nice to be able to scroll home screens with 30 apps or short cuts at your finger tips. I keep one screen for video apps and one for contacts I call often and one for all my gps apps. I consider it one of those "must have" apps.

This application is pretty good. The icons don't look great on my Droid, but I can live with that. Regardless, it does exactly what I need which is let me assign my own shortcuts AND let me get back to my home screen if I choose to.
