Is there a "Startup Menu" or something like that?

I have been looking and reading posts for a day or so not looking for the answer to this and my other questions about not having Flicker and Amazon MP3 startup when the phone is "woken up"?

On my HTC Touch Pro I was able ti disable various programs from starting when the phone was turned on or woken up. Is there ANYTHING like this for the Evo? I do not want to go full Root but hate having to close this garbage every time I wake up the phone?

Why the hell does Sprint/HTC do this to this phone? Listen to your customers and get rid of this garbage! It seems to have gotten worse with the latest upgrade

this has been discussed many times. the android OS manages apps much differently than windows mobile (im a current windows mobile user since 2002), so even though you see something "running" but not being accessed/used, it commits nothing to memory or CPU cycles. if the OS needs the resources that app(s) is/are using, the OS will kill those programs. all of this happens silently in the background.

root your phone if you want to get of them permanently... don't use those startup managers... they are just task killers that task kill on startup... really defeats the point

I am not really sure what you mean by this?
Yes I am frustrated by the fact that there is so much GARBAGE on my phone that I will never use. I have read many many many pages of the Evo forum about what to do and how to do it. So your comment was a bit unjust if you are insinuating that I did not try to find the solution to my question before posting or am incapable of learning (an idiot, by definition). Your insult is nothing more than you flexing your e-muscles, but a bit unnecessary.

Now If I read the forum rules correctly, it states that if a user has tried to find an answer, and cannot, feel free to ask said question. If you do not like the question, you sir are supposed to move onto the next post.

Back on subject after my little rant.

I stated that I do not want to; or feel that I have the abilities (technologically speaking) to root my phone.

I did search and am not running any type of app killer, I just do it the old fashioned way and force stop the programs I want dead. My issue is more from a battery stand point (yes I have read the sticky's and done all of the recommended modifications). I was simply wondering if there was something I was missing that was an easy way to keep these programs form opening.

Edit: Had ATK on phone first day i got it then read this, uninstalled, things got better

Another option would be to write your own app to kill things with one button push after start up. I don't think you'd have to be a "programmer" to do that.

Seems pretty simple. All you're doing is killing a bunch of known processes. I'm actually surprised no one has built a widget for the EVO to do this.
