I'll only consider it after it's been out a while and there's no sign of radio lockup, gps or any other significant issue.
This.

With the Epic, samsung promises not to hit me any more. Samsung says they still love me. But I've still got my long-wait-for-2.1 black eye, slow-GPS bruised ribs and airplane-mode-lockup broken arm.

If the Epic doesn't have any major issues a month or two after release then I'll consider it over the Evo. I do like that keyboard.

Samsung does not love you.

No corporation loves you..or even likes you. The larger they become the less you as the consumer even count and once they go public, you become nothing more than a despised obstacle separating them from what they view as their money. Samsung hates you...HTC hates you, Sony, LG, HP, etc. all hate you and Apple despises the very air you breath. Only you as the consumer think it's personal.

Yup. There is an Epic in my future.

I haven't really had the bad experience with the Moment that some folks have. CDMA lockups are very rare for me. I also rarely need GPS location more accurate than what the "use wireless networks" can get me, and even then, it's only for foursquare.

Enough stuff got fixed in CL14 that the phone was pretty good, and 2.1 came along before I expected it to (well within their projected release date).

I expect the Galaxy S phones to get pretty good support, considering they're making them their "flagship" phones, and releasing them on every carrier.

As far as phones go, the Moment was pretty obscure.

i was really looking to the EVO, but when the Epic was announced i was happy to see that they are not giving up on those of us that like a physical keyboard. Even with Swype (whick i love and do use, tho minimally) i dont know if i am ready to take the plunge into a TOTALLY keyless phone. my upgrade isnt for over a year, but if i liked a phone enough i would buy it

that said, i dont know if the Epic is going to be that phone for me. im not a HUGE fan of the keyboard layout, although almost anything is better than hitting B instead of N cause of the spacebar placement on my moment.

i just feel like the specs arent impressive enough after the specs on the EVO.

i will probably just wait for the next superphone with a keyboard...

When it'supgrade time I'm going with the best Sprint has to offer, whatever that may be. At the time it was the moment. At the end of the year I'm betting it will be something else.

I was all set on the moment because of the keyboard but now with swype working so amazingly well I could honestly care less about a physical kb. With that out of the selection process it opens up a whole new world of phones to me.

I bet my next phone won't be a samsung.

I'm a little sour on Samsung cellular phone offerings. The Moment isn't the first I've had issues with.

I've had 5 different HTC smartphones and all have had their problems, but none as serious as CDMA lockups, and the few problems they did have were WM related, not hardware. I'm looking to get the Evo next month.

By Novermber (hopefully enough time for it to be reeleased) I'll have the $75 off thing and Ive been eagerly awaiting the Epic since I first read about it so as of now, yes I'll get it. Love my moment so a physical keyboard is a must. However, my own personal agenda is to go off to college in 2011 with as new a phone as possible so waiting 'til next year and seeing that selection could be a better option.

Not to derail the thread, but have you tried Swype?

I used to feel the same way about the keyboard. In fact it is the reason I was so loyal to and decided to get the Moment in the first place. I got a copy of Swype last week from a guy at SDX and tried it and it works so well that in a weeks time I have decided that a phsical keyboard just isn't that big of a deal anymore.
