So, I had the Incredible pre ordered. And after hearing how long the wait was going to be, I was sure that Droid X would be well worth getting it early. Boy was I wrong. After reading the reviews, the Droid X is def not near what the INC is. I canceled my pre order yesterday for the INC. Called back today to uncancel. Hope they can in time or I'll have to order again. Dont do it anyone. Wait out the INC. It will be well worth it.

Since I just realized the other Droid X vs Incredible thread got locked due to off-topic-ness, I figured I'd start another one to keep all the X comparison threads consolidated here.

Keep all the Droid X vs Incredible discussions here, and I will try to merge any new threads I see into this one. And most importantly, lets keep this one on topic for those that are actually interested.

(Edit: Just merged with a similar thread, but that one was made before mines, so my post got bumped down to 2nd)

Does the average user need better reception and battery life. Or a phone to run cooler, not overheat as fast...

Cuz thats what the 45nm cpu, Diversity Antennas on the X offer. And I only mentioned the phone aspects of it, didnt even get into the other areas of the X. U cant deny the X is a step up from the Inc...........I can understand ppl that already have an Inc. not switching, I can understand ppl not wanting a bigger phone........

But dont say it has nothing to offer....Even the Droid, which I believe has better reception and better battery life since its running a slower cpu, has something to offer.....

Engadget is cool, but just for them not covering the call quaity, reception and speaker....and still give it a rating....it gets a big thumbs down....Dont just read the reviews and focus on the negatives. Cuz the positives outweigh any negatives by a big margin.

I haven't upgraded yet (coming from BB, upgrading July 15th) but I am leaning towards the Incredible over the X. The X is going to be too big for me, I'll check it out in the store first but I just don't think it's going to be a practical phone to carry around. Also I like Sense a lot. For those reasons I am most likely going Incredible.

I still can't believe that the X is bigger than the Evo.

I have a coworker with an Evo that I've been playing with for a while and it's really huge.

I just can't get on board with these giant phones. The ~3.5ish range is the magic spot where it's tolerably large.

The real sweet spot might be the Samung phones.....they all are 4".

Maybe for some people. I really, really don't want a phone that's bigger than the one I have. For me, if they want to make the screen bigger, they have to figure out how to make the bezels smaller. I'm a little surprised that there isn't more of a push to have ultra skinny bezels and the screen pushed right up to the glass. The iPhone 4 is getting closer, they've reduced the distance between the glass and the screen, but still, you'd think it would be a substantial marketing point to say, "Look, same size as the iPhone/Incredible, but we sport a bigger screen!"

Of course, my coworker absolutely loves his Evo. He wears his pants a little baggy so there's no pocketing problem and it's his primary camera/photo display so the big screen is nice for him.

Guess it's all about choices, eh?

I tried the droid x dummy model at the verizon store (same dimensions, same weight etc.).. and honestly.. wasn't too impressed. I don't like the build.. especially on the back.... seems like it's mickey moused into having too many individual parts that make up for the back.. the bump on the back side of the droid x wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.. but the phone is quite a bit heavier than the incredible. The phone is simply too big for my taste.. It did fit in easily into my pockets.. and doesn't feel that bad when holding it to your ear. I don't like the hard buttons on the droid x.. I love the capacitor type of the Inc. When you rotate the droid x to view in landscape though.. there is less likely of your finger accidentally hitting a button (like in the Inc.).. since there is a gap between the bottom of the screen and the location of the physical buttons.. The physical buttons did not at all feel good to press.. but that could be because it was a dummy model.
The construction of the incredible is far superior in my opinion.. with it's sleek smooth black finish... and the AMOLED screen of the incredible with it's brightness and vivid colors is gonna be pretty hard to beat.

Now that 720p is coming to Droid incredible.. i really have no reason to want the droid x.

(I'm picturing this guy standing in his underwear taking this video - [no homo])

Anyway, It's not so much that I'd think the phone's width and height are a problem, it's the hump on the back. All the pressure of the phone will be concentrated along that one raised strip on your leg if the phone is screen-out. Keeping the screen "in" will give you a (noticeable?) lump in your pocket (yeah, I know how that sounds).

However, I bet this is really a non-issue but still a crap design (along w/ the buttons and no pointing device).

Yeah, remember when the Inc had an AMOLED screen, yeah good times.;)

I wasn't aware there were mock demo units in the stores. I'll have to run down to the Verizon store in the my building at lunch and check it out (if they have one). Thanks...

If you don't see it out on display.. ask one of the guys.. in my case the guy got it from "behind the scenes".

^Maybe u meant the Inc's stock launcher is faster.

Guy who has the X installed Launcher Pro and ADW....said it made a difference..just like it does on the Droid. Sense UI is nice, no denying that. Thats why some reviewers say the Inc is faster....cuz Sense UI is that good for home screen scrolling.

Inc will have HD recording with an update.

With the X having Blur widgets, apps and not full blown Blur it will get OS updates faster.

I said this in a similar post but I was playing with an incredible in a verizon store today, and I have to say that I was not impressed with the pixel rendering on the screen. On smaller text from web pages it almost looked like the letters were bleeding. Sort of what letters look like from a really bad inkjet printer. I don't remember seeing that the first time I looked at the phone last week, but I wasn't looking as hard as I did today. Maybe it was the model I was playing with (though larger printed letters looked fine). Honestly the resolution looked worst than the regular moto droid that was next to it. I'm not talking about color, brightness or contrast (those aspects looked good enough at least to me eyes). I'm simply talking about the sharpness of the pixels, if there is such a thing.
