How Do I Get Rid of FB Contacts?

I just got a 4G, and when I entered my email address, it downloaded a bunch of my FB contacts to my "phone" list. How do I get rid of them? I don't want to see a huge list of contacts every time I open the phone. When I go to the "people" list, and I go to "delete", it takes me to a new screen that only has contacts that I manually entered on the phone. It doesn't show any of the FB contacts, so deleting them is not an option. How can I delete them?\
Thanks!

I had the same problem... Here is what I had to do to get rid of them...

1. Factory reset the device.. Sucks, I know..
2. Log into gmail at bootup
3. Got to settings >> accounts and sync and UNCHECK Auto-sync
4. Log into facebook
5. Go back to Stettings >> accounts and sync
6. You have to be fast with this part..
(a) re check Auto-sync
(b) Immediately click on Facebook and UNCHECK Sync contacts (you will only have a few seconds to do this)

Walla, FB contacts gone for good...

I tried for hours to get rid of them and this was the only way I could get them off and keep them from coming back

Good luck

Try this:

First, back up your contacts on your PC (I assume you are using gMail). Please make sure you do this so you can retrieve your contacts if something goes wrong.

Second, log out of Facebook

Third, turn off Contact Synching

Fourth, delete the Contacts Storage Data (HomeScreen->Settings->Applications->Manage Applications->Contacts Storage->Clear Data).

Fifth, turn on Contact Synching

Sixth, wait as your contacts resynch with gMail. Since you aren't logged in to Facebook you shouldn't be linked to Facebook contacts.

I have not tried this exact scenario, so YMMV.

Again, please backup before trying this.

Why don't you just go to "people" "menu""view" and deselect Facebook contacts?

That still leaves all the Facebook pics and birthday information. If he doesn't mind having those, then it's a great idea, and a very simple solution.

Also, depending on how many Facebook contacts he has, even though you aren't viewing them, they are still taking up valuable memory. Deleting them and not synching with Facebook is the only way I know of to free the memory.

In the question, I didn't know memory was an issue the op had. The way I described is a simply quick fix but for those concerned with memory no its not a fix, how much memory could a picture really take up Thoe?

I have about 300 Facebook contacts. As near as I can estimate, removing them from my phone saves over 1.5MB.

If you are never going to use the Facebook contacts, you might as well remove them, instead of having them on your phone but not showing them.

I have been trying to delete my Facebook contacts from my phone list for a while now and I just found this doing a search for "remove Facebook".

Settings > Accounts & sync > Facebook for HTC Sense > Remove Account

Then when it takes you back to the Accounts & sync page, go ahead and click "Add Account" and add your Facebook for HTC Sense back.

Worked great, no more Facebook contacts in my phone list.

Thanks jhale83!

so I did this when i got my replacement evo and it worked to keep the fb contacts out of my normal contacts, but i still would like to have the facebook photos and birthdays to be linked to my current contacts like you could with 1.5 on my hero. I could manually link each person now when I try to do it, it says i have no fb friends anyone know if that is possible to do?
