one of the things i looked forward to about froyo the most was having the ability to move and store apps on the sd card. well i am now running froyo and have noticed that none of my apps can be moved and the ones i have downloaded cannot be stored on the sd card either:mad:. this includes the 10.1 flash which eats up over 12mb alone! whats up here? am i doing something wrong?

Okay, so I was having the same problem. It was annoying the heck out of me, I posted here as well and didn't get a response. I thought maybe it had to do with the stock BB V0.4 kernal, so I updated that, nope not it. But OC at 1.1 anyway...sweet.

Oh yeah, back on topic...in your apps look for "Bugless Beast Toolkit", I assume it comes with the ROM because I did not install it.

Then...."Script Helper"....."apps2sd"......

You will get a few choices here, it wasn't all very clear to me, but I chose..."apps2sd -e".

It says that all my downloads will now install to sd. I am able now to transfer all my already installed apps over.

FYI: Don't move you app launcher, or anything that has a widget associated with it, it won't load properly. I also noticed that upon reboot my shortcuts on the desktop did not load the icon properly.

I am using ADW Launcher (which is awesome), that may have something to do with it.

So I need to go to the main phone... settings...applications...manage applications...adw launcher...force stop. Then all my icons on the desktop load properly.

I have no programming knowledge and am just assuming the problem with the icons is that the Launcher loads before the apps from the sd card do.

Lastly, several of my apps when I tried to send them gave me a pop up saying it was unable to move the app. I was able just to do it a 2nd time then it worked, happened several times.

Hope this helps, good luck!

Please bear in mind that once you use the apps2sd -e script to be able to move your apps to SD card, all of your apps from there forward will be installed on your SD card. Therefore, once you finish moving the apps you want to move, it's a good idea to go back into the BB Toolkit and and run apps2sd -i (back to internal storage). That will let you control which apps get stored to the SD card (and then if you want to move some, just run the apps2sd -e script again, move the desired apps, then switch back again using apps2sd -i).

I am using ChevyNo1 1.1Ghz UltraLow 7-Slot Kernel, which has worked great for me.

Honestly I don't know if that affects battery life at all vs another kernel if that is what you mean.

From what I read you might have to try diff kernels to see if your droid handles it okay, something about the processors and the way they are made makes them slightly diff.

My concern is heat, so far this version BB 0.4 with that kernel is doing well and keeping the temp down.

You will get conflicting opinions on task killers (TK)but I swear by them for battery life. Back when I first bought this in Dec 09' battery was dreadful, half a day I think. After using a TK my battery would last all day.

Since then the battery usage is much improved with the newer ROM's but I still use it. I use Advanced Task Killer in the market. Great program, always updated and works better than ever with Froyo.

Just out of curiosity, why would you want to install apps to internal memory? As I stated above besides your Home Launcher and apps that you are using widgets with nothing else comes to mind.

From what I have read there is no diff in speed when running apps from your sd.

Not sure if I am missing something....thx

There are some apps that simply don't run as well from the SD card (and this could vary among Droids). For instance I moved Titanium Backup from my SD card back to the phone because my scheduled backups wouldn't run while on the SD card. aTrackdog doesn't work properly from SD, either, and I could go on. Also, after a reboot, it takes time for the apps on SD to load, so if you try to launch them before they've loaded, it will show the app not installed. Not a huge deal, but it can cause some frustration. For me, the point is maintaining control of the install location so I can make an app-by-app decision about what I want to move to SD.

Others may have the opposite preference, and that's fine -- I just wanted to make sure the OP and others new to the BB scripts understood the effect on ongoing installs of running the apps2sd -e script.
