Couple of questions!

Hey there. I've been a Phandroid lurker since the rumor-extravaganza that was the lead-up to the Incredible release. I intended on getting the Inc, but some issues arose (thankfully) that caused me to hold off. Now I'm planning on getting the X, but I've got a few questions. Just wanted to see if anybody could help me out. :)

1) Will Verizon be offering a pre-order before the 15th? I called customer service today and got my NE2 moved from August 25 to tomorrow, so a pre-order would be effing awesome.

2) I'm new to Android. I was looking at the app "Locale," and I noticed that the paid non-beta version has been getting horrible reviews. Basically, I just need a program that can automatically switch from 3G to WiFi when my apartment's wireless network is detected.

I'm sure I have a few more questions, but non are coming to mind right now... Anyways, thanks in advance for the help! :)

Well unless you get lucky enough to find a store to take pre-orders then unfortunately the answer is no.
Well I plan on purchasing it online anyways (to avoid rebate, etc).

Which brings up another question: If they don't open an online pre-order for the X, will it go on sale on the site at midnight on the 15th?

From what's been posted ad infinitum. no pre-orders from VZW for the Droid X are forthcoming.

Your wireless network will be detected automatically when you're in range of the router and given that you've logged into it previously from the phone, will connect without issue. No app is needed.
Bah, okay. I don't expect it to be sold out, I just don't wanna take my chances. I'm going on vacation the next week and don't wanna be stuck waiting until after that. Haha.

See, I was thinking it might work like that. Will it automatically connect every time I come within range (without prompting me), and will it turn off 3G when on WiFi?

3G will remain on unless you go into airplane mode.

So with WiFi and 3G both on, does it prioritize and use WiFi for data instead of 3G? Or would I manually have to turn 3G off to ensure that is uses WiFi?

Isn't it if you shut off 3G you can't make of recieve calls? Like that shuts off you phone and everything that you can only get over the Verizon network

If it's like the iPhone, it will prioritize data across WiFi if you are connected to one. Phone will go through 3g.
Awesome, that's what I was aiming to hear. With Verizon tinkering around with the idea of a tiered data plan, I'm planning on getting used to using WiFi whenever it's available. And as a college student, I spend a bunch of time at my apartment, so most of the data I use could theoretically be via my wireless internet connection.

Thanks a lot!
