How did you pay for your Droid Incredible or other Android device?

Well, seeing how often some people upgrade, and how often some do not. I was curious to know how people came across there Droids/Smartphones. I try to have the best phone I can, just simply because I have a big space in my heart for technology.

I can't afford that much because I am a student so I usually wait for a NE2. Which is what I did for my Incredible, and sold my Storm 2 to pay the difference.

Also my best friend works for Verizon Corporate and she gets phones by going over her quota. So every so often I get lucky with that.
Example: When the first Storms came out she won two and she traded me the two for a full stereo system installed in her Jeep. (Boyfriend is in automotive field).

Do you pay full price for your phone, if so why?

Do you only do your NE2? If so, why?

Do you wait till you get one for free either by gift, or by hand me down?

ETC.

I have never paid full price for a phone. It just seems so... wrong :D

I always wait until my NE2. I may get excited about a new phone before my NE2 is ready but I just remind myself that an even better phone will be out by the time my upgrade is ready.

I was actually eligable for my upgrade in March but waited because nothing really interested me all that much and I knew cooler stuff was coming. Settled on the DINC and I am sure that will keep me very happy for the next 2 years!

I have never had a hand me down phone. I always get news ones. It's my treat to myself.

That's what happened to me! I was sitting on my upgrade from January to May, I couldn't find anything that interested me at all... But then the Inc came. :)

My treat too. I love new phones, I got my boyfriends Storm2 when he upgraded for a Moto Droid, he had it for maybe a month before that... but it was SO slow... but leaps and bounds past the original Storm. That's the only time I've done hand me down though.

I switched from AT&T to VZW so I was a new customer. Fortunately I have really good friends that own a VZW store so I got mine for $100 after rebate. I then sold my old LG Vu for $65 so in the end I only paid $35ish.

I got mine for $99.99 ($100 mail in rebate). I ended up having to have a manager at the actual Verizon store kick the order though though since the website kept coming up $149.99 and wouldn't give me my extra $50 off.

I thought about selling my Dare but a friend wants it, too. Since I don't think I will get that much selling it I think I might just be nice and give it to her. She's since using a very basic 5 year old flip phone so even the Dare is a huge upgrade for her!

Company provides me with a phone/plan. I get to pick the phone as long as it is on Verizon. Any phone under $400 and they don't really care. My company has the frame of mind that a happy employee is a hard working employee so we get a lot of freedom to pick our tools (phone, laptop, hotels, vehicles). My Omnia was giving me a buzzing sound in the ear piece during calls and I was due for an early upgrade. Sure I had insurance on my Omnia but I wanted an Android phone. The Dinc was the best verizon had and the size was right so I ordered it. Cost to me.... $0 :D

Humm... so I just checked out EBay and it looks like the Dare is selling (used) for around $70. If I toss in all my accessories (Zagg shield, leather case, 4 gig SD, etc) I might be able to push $100 for it.

If I sell my iPod Touch that I haven't used in over 6 months I can make even more. Which will make up for all of the accessories I have already bought for my DINC!

One time.. my sister went to the Verizon store and was just like absolutely putting on a show.. crying uncontrollably about how her phone broke and all the pictures of important events in her life are now gone.. they gave 2 year price when she was about a year and a few months from ne2... myself, I just sell old phones on craigslist.

I waited for my NE2. AND the private sale invite I got from verizon.

Ive had my Dare for 2 years...and i paid 200$ for it back when it first came out(think i got it like a week after it came out or something). With a new contract from Verizon....

Walked out of the store when I ordered my Dinc with them billing my account for $86.11 including case and screen protectors....kinda sad that I paid so much more for my dare and it can't even do a fraction of what the Dinc can.

Got mine through work so I didn't pay anything. I told them we should try out Android phones for business use. One benefit of being in IT. My "payment" was to create the documentation for adding an ActiveSync account on the phone.

I am also allowed to get any new phone I want, as often as I want through our corporate account at the NE2 price. I haven't had to pay for one myself yet but if I did it would be at the discounted price.

I buy mine under contract. I have 4 lines on my plan, so I play around. I paid 199 for my INC and I got it all back less the 35 dollar restocking fee. So, I have that money aside waiting to be spent on the X or the Fascinate. Likely the X. Great call quality, great features and build and huge screen.

That's what I told myself when I bought the 8 gig card for my Dare 2 years ago.

And yet here I am, 2 years later, buying a 16 gig card for my DINC.

I am sure by the time my next phone upgrade happens I will be buying a 32/64/128 gig card.

I have been using my 16 gig for awhile now... I have extra ones too just lying around but I can't part with the one I've been using lol.
