evo in direct sunlight is by far the worst ive seen on any phone

Do u all agree? My phone rung earlier, i went to see who it was and my screen looked like it was blank. I had to cover my hand over the screen to see who it was. By that time they had hung up lls. Its all good, didnt wanna talk to her anyways. I know theres no possible "fix" for this but quite ignoring sometimes.

Agreed, even on cloudy days it's hard for me to see it.

I use Clarivue's Anti-glare and I have absolutely no problems in Southern California sun. Even before, I don't think I had that big of a problem.

Does the anti glare screen obscure the front camera??

I can't think of another device I've owned that I actually can see the screen in direct sunlight. The Evo is readable to me but it can be difficult to see, but by no means can I not read it at all. I've had phones that were much worse.

EDIT-I have automatic brightness turned off and the brightness slider is set around 40% or so. I did turn on automatic brightness the other day and I could read it pretty well outside in the shade.

I don't know what you are talking about. My EVO is awesome in sunlight. I use a cheap screen protector. I can see the maps very well, and everything. Maybe you should adjust the brightness. Before the EVO I had an HTC Touch (the grand daddy of the touch phones). It was horrible in sunlight. But the EVO is very visible. That was the first thing I tried when I got it. :)

I had my brightness set to auto and was sitting in the sun having some cocktails with some family members. I wanted to show a couple of pictures I had taken with the phone. It was pretty hard for people to see the pictures well. I then changes the brightness to max, and the pictures were very visible and clear. I don't know if the auto hadn't adjusted yet or if it doesn't quite get to max, but putting the phone on max made all the difference in the world.

The Evo isn't great but it is certainly usable in direct sun. I've used many devices that are completely useless outside. This is not one of those. Unfortunately, none of the big screen phones have a transreflective display which would completely eliminate sun issues as it does on smaller phones. Hopefully, once pixel qi gets cheaper, we'll start to see it on phones.
