is it worth waiting for?

Let me put it this way. I waited a month and had it for just 2 weeks. It died, but the reason may have been user error on my part (let it fully charge when you first open it, I didn't lol...big mistake).

I used it for two weeks and was borderline in tears when I found that I would have to wait another month for my new one to ship. Should be getting my email any day now letting me know my bundle of joy (check tuition prices and you will see why this doesn't apply to kids) arrives.

My order date in a VZW store was 6/7 and I received my phone on 7/2. I switched from a Blackberry Curve. I am very happy with the phone - it is so much better than the BB and does amazing things. I replaced the stock 1300 battery with the 2150 from Verizon and my battery life has held up very well with modest to heavy use. I highly recommend the extended battery if you don't mind the larger back. I think your patience will be rewarded if you get the phone. Good luck.

What phone are you coming from and what are you looking tio do with a phone? It's all about personal preference. I waited quite a long time for my phone and got it realease day, I was like a kid on christmas with my phone and even now over 2 months later I am still amazed by what I can do and still love this phone to death. So for me it was worth the wait and then some, but I can only attest to the functionality and performance of this phone ;)

While it's true that it really depends on what you are looking for from your phone, I can say that I am nothing but amazed by this phone. I've had a blackberry off and on for about the last 7 years. I bought my first blackberry back when they had the little wheel on the side and although I've left a couple of time I always came back within a month or two. First it was WinMo which caught my eye. Compared to the bb it looked all sexy and it could do some cool things. First WinMo (touchscreen version) and then the smartphone version. Both just couldn't compare to the comforting feeling I had with my bb and I was back. I even left my bb for the iPhone at one point. Yes, it was a great phone but it was more of a toy. Once I got over the wiz-bang fun of downloading apps, I was right back to my blackberry. I think that love affair lasted about 1 month as well.

After a move to Verizon and a few months with a bb storm I started looking into the Droid Incredible. Let me just say that I was skeptical at first. I had fallen for the love at first sight before only to then find out that it really just wasn't up to snuff. I was also worried about all of the reports of bad battery life and washed out screens outdoors. Even with all that, the gadget junkie in me won out and I bought one off of ebay, in addition to the seidio battery. Let me just say I just cancelled by BES service (with my email provider) and there's no looking back. I've loved this phone for the last month and wouldn't change it for the world. Even the battery life (albeit with the 1750 mah battery) has been incredible. It's definitely been better than my Storm battery. I've also been very impressed with android as a whole. Yes, there are some shortcomings. The screen is washed out in sunlight but I can use it enough to get by. The folder management for exchange is also a bit less functional than the blackberry. There's also the issue of not syncing notes and tasks with my exchange server that is a bit of a pain. All that being said I will probably never go back to blackberry. I'm an android convert.

Sorry if this is a bit more than you wanted but I've been dieing to gush about android and my dinc. This has really been a great switch and I would say to anyone one the fence that it's well worth trying it out. The phone may not be for everyone but for me it has been "incredible."

I transitioned from the LG Dare and have really enjoyed my Incredible. As with all technology, but especially with cell phones, there will always be something better in 2-3 months, but getting the Incredible will definitely meet most needs and requirements in a solid smart phone for most people for the duration of their 2 year contract. Picking between the Incredible and other Androids like Droid X or Evo is like choosing between BMW and Audi...they all are high performance and superb, just matter of preference and making a decision. I for one am definitely happy with it.

OP...

I first heard about this phone back in December. I waited and waited and waited for a release date to be leaked and finally (sometime in early Jan) it was leaked for Feb 23rd. So I began the countdown (biggest mistake of my life). A week away from the 23rd, I had all my money saved and had already taught myself the ins and outs of the Android OS.

Then it was pushed back, and back and back. It seemed like every week the release date got farther and farther away. I read every article mention Android and the Incredible on every Android website I possibly could (again a bad idea because the suspense was killing me).

FINALLY, the day had come and I woke up at 6 am to rush to the Verizon store and was the 3rd person to get the phone from the store. Let me tell you, that almost 4 months of waiting, sweating over when it could come, not spending the money I saved...was SO worth it. I would have waited a year for this phone. The Droid X isn't an alternative and neither is the EVO. You either want a big screen or you dont. Same with the Droid, you either want a keyboard or you dont. So make your decision, want a keyboard? No? Want a big screen? No?

Ask anyone here, even with all the 'problems' the people do have. It is absolutely worth the wait. When you get it, you will understand.

It's all in your taste, the Dinc it's a great phone and if it holds true that we'll be getting 720p+3G mobile hot spot, it gets even better, the UI it's beautiful and the phone is faster than any other phone out right now.

Now if you don't wanna wait just get the X, it's one of the best if not the best phones that Android has to offer.

Each has a different take on the DInc, for me it's everything I needed in a Smart Phone. I tried the iPhone, returned it after a week returned it because of the service, but was now sold on the Smart Phone idea. I looked at the EVO but too big IMO. The DInc's screen is worthless in the bright sunlight but I seldom need to look at the screen when I'm outside so I can live with that.

My DInc is used as a phone, a back up to my regular e-mail, a calendar, a scheduler, a Cardio trainer, listening music while working out, for shopping lists, vehicle maintenance records, reading the news or a book while waiting for an appointment, etc. As you can see I don't play games on it.

So far as battery life that too will depend of the individual, once I turned off all auto syncs, (Background sync included), the battery life jumped dramatically. Heck, it'll last me all day with no problem and I've always been one to charge all my battery operated equipment each night.

The bottom line is only you can decide it the DInc is/will be right for you and if it's worth the wait.

Good luck in your decision.:D

This is what I was thinking about doing.

I am going from a Blackberry Curve 2 with the worlds worst battery to an android phone. I was not sure If I should wait for the DInc or get the D-X.

I kind of want the D-X but is the DInc much better?

Honestly, its worth waiting for.

I love everything about this phone.. except the size. After playing with the evo and seeing that the droid x has the same 4.3 inch screen, I do need a screen thats a little bigger.

Not sure what I'm going to do, but I would really love an evo or a droid x, probably going to get a droid x just cause I don't care for sprint at all..

Great camera, great screen clarity, touch screen flows nicely and overall the phone is amazing.
