This thread won't be up long as mods always delete/lock my threads, but here is my experience with returning my Incredible and cancelling my order.

The CSR at Verizon, who was finally able to cancel my Inc replacement, mentioned something about my card being charged full retail when it goes back to the warehouse. I was like "WTF?". I ordered my original for $199.

She told me that when they are shipped back to the warehouse, they don't read the notes on your account and people are being charged the full retail price. She offered to monitor my account to ensure this does not happen.

Not sure about the whole dynamics of this, but its salt in the wound for me.

Just a heads up for anyone returning a defective Inc. that see a mysterious five hundred and some dollar charge from Verizon.

Just so you know....most CSRs don't really know wtf they are talking about.

Pretty much their system is setup in Category and each one has a different way of approaching. Its all spelled out for them..she may have misread or misunderstood something or just is trying to get you worried over something stupid.

But when you send your phone back to the warehouse all they do is scan the phone back by its bar code and this in turn cancels any charges on your account or credits your account back if you have already been charged.

IF your account does get charged 500$ then I would IMMEDIATELY contact VZW and raise every last bit of hell with them.

As a matter of fact, the girl was very knowledgeable .She is the 18th CSR i talked to and she was doing stuff the other's never could, including canceling my Inc replacement.

I can't remember all of the details she gave on the warehouse deal, but it made sense.

Maybe all your posts get deleted because you come across as pretty obnoxious.

My posts have been legit and an attempt to help. I'm a man, when attacked, I hit back and ask questions later.

I'm sorry (not really) everyone here gets all edgy about my posts, but I'm only relaying info I have received to maybe help someone out. But it seems this forum is more of a pissing match than helpful. A real shame.

I just like getting people going :)

I'm a skeptic, and would rather offend one person than have everyone start freaking out over a potential charge that nobody else has encountered besides some BS CSR's statement, even if true.

I didn't post this as fact. I simply relayed the info. Does it hurt to maybe keep an eye out when returning your phone? NO.

WTF is wrong with you people. Is it so f*****g hard to just say, "thanks for the info".

ALL CSRs can cancel a phone, most just don't want to. And all the information she gave you every CSR has access to, it just all depends on how willing they are to look for it. Thats why whenever I called about my Dinc the first guy tried to sell me the Droid X instead of the Dinc. And really tried to sell me the phone, and gave me no other useful information. He was trying to get his commission

Verizon pays all of their employees commission weither they are in store or phone CSRs. Most CSRs don't cancel orders because it stops the CSR who sold you the phone from getting their commission however if you receive the phone and send it back, the CSR still gets his commission because technically you received the phone. Some CSRs just really don't care and will Cancel the orders or even try to sell you a different phone, especially if they are behind for the month.

Its one of the untold things of the sales world. CSRs watch each other backs before they watch yours.

To you, yes. It is hard to say that. Because you haven't said anything so far that I feel the need to thank you for. The only thing I have seen you do is try to stir up trouble and then ADMIT that you like to stir up trouble.

What you post doesn't make a bit of sense. Why would Verizon charge you any amount (full price or discount) to return a phone??? When you return a phone, you get your money back, not get charged. The only thing you MIGHT be billed for is the restocking fee, assuming they don't waive it.

um...no. most orders aren't cancelled because it's -nearly- impossible to do it. This is a special circumstance because of the ridiculous wait time to get the DInc.

um... no, again. CSR aren't paid commission. SALES reps are- such as telesales or store sales reps. And even then, they are on hourly wages. CSRs -the people you talk to about your bill, etc- may get perks from sales, but that's something extra from the company as incentive, not because it's their job. Also, the commission is based on ACTIVATIONS, not deliveries.

Finally someone who makes a sensible post. Welcome.

I had to call Verizon 17 times to cancel my order. Was even told by 6 supervisors my order couldn't be cancelled. The last CSR did know her stuff.

I was driving when she was telling me about the whole retails charge thing and I will admint i didn't catch every detail, but I know for sure she said that the warehouse people would try to do it.

Amazing how some here blindly attack my posts and don't even have the details. But as long as I irritate a few in these forums, its worth it.

I don't know all the details, I admit... but just from what I read from other in this thread alone, I think this comment is why people doubt you. If you want people to take you seriously, you really shouldn't say stuff that makes it seem like you're only here to harass and annoy.

I joined this Android forum when my first Inc got fried from using a Blackberry charger. Instead of keeping it to myself, I found a popular forum to share may experience in order to maybe save someone else the bad experience I am going through right now - no phone.

Instead, I was barraged by personal attacks. My intentions were never to cause trouble. However, after so many personal attacks, I pushed back. I know some were worried and in denial and scared about the Blackberry charger issue, but I simply shared my experience which what I thing a forum is for, but i may be mistaken. Also, the issue had occurred w/ others as well.

So that's the story.

FYI: never trust a CSR to follow through on this. However well intended they are, they will never follow through. This has happened to me on multiple occasions.

Agreed. And this is not specific to Verizon (I actually have no experience with Verizon and monitoring future transactions).

I recently had a credit card company CSR tell me she'd monitor my account for a fee they were going to charge due to a mistake I made using some new system they have. Sure enough, fee hit and no credit. Had to call back to get it taken care of.

Then again, Verizon CSR's have always proven one step above most customer service in my experience, so maybe this woman will.

I agree. I shipped my phone back today and will be diligently be watching my account now that I have this information. This whole process has been a PITA from the get go, so I wouldn't expect it to end well either.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

This CSR was definitely a good one and I feel she will follow through. However, I'm still monitoring my account. :)

You make no sense. A CSR told you they will charge you $500+ on a return? I don't know about where you're from, but where I come from you get money back on a return, not money taken. And give Verizon a little credit, they certainly know how to issue a refund.

Enjoy your DX.

EDIT: Thanks for the "info."

Like I said, I was driving and didn't catch the exact details, but I know for sure she said that they would try charge my card, which is the important point right?
WTF with everyone thinking the know everything. How pitiful is your life that you go around forum posts telling others that just because its never happened to you or you've never heard of it, then it can't be true.

Just listen to yourselves.
