Root Apps after root

two part question.

First ever since I rooted to BB v0.4 I have experienced the following. When I download an app form the market the icon shows up on my app drawer and I can run the app on the original install. Any time after that however when I select the app icon from the app drawer it says "this app is not installed on your phone"

Second how do you know if you "need" to wipe when flashing a new rom? Is there a rule of thumb - like if you go from one let's say BB to Chevy? Just trying to avoid learning the hard way.

Are the apps in question by any chance installed on your SD card? (You can tell by going into Settings>Manage applications, scrolling down to the app and looking to see if there's a button that says "Move to phone.") If it is installed on your SD card and you try to launch it after reboot before your Droid has had time to load all the apps on the SD card, it will say it's not installed. If that's the case, either use the button to "Move to phone" or give it a little time after reboot before you try to launch it.

/\/\ aggree with this, but also. what launcher are you using? I ran into a couple launchers (can't remember which now) would not "see" any app installed to the SD card. might check that too.
