Why do I want to return my AT&T HTC Aria

and get the Droid X on July 15th? Guys, please convince me :D
The main thing I'd miss, and I have said this before, would be being able to use voice/data at the same time as you can with AT&T. And thats not extremely important. The skype calls over voice instead of data seems to be a big hoax. I mainly use google voice for texts, so as I see it if I was on a call, I wouldnt receive the google voice text as its coming over as data?

Yea, those are about the only reasons keeping me from going with Verizon.

I believe the Aria has the smallest screen of any adroid handset if I'm not mistaken. To me that would simply just not do for an all touch device. The Eris was horrible to type on until I got swype, and the wife's ally is the same, but the physical keyboard saves it. Unless you just live on the phone, I can't imagine waiting to receive a text until after you end a call shouldn't be that big of a deal.

why do u want to return it???
cause u were not thinking right to get an ARIA in the first place! :)
its an at&t android phone. its like buying a car in IRAN or getting a nice hotel in IRAQ!
at&t is the home of the enemy!! :)
the aria cant side load apps. its small and the processor is what? 600mhz!??
and u call yourself a sysadmin! :)
unless you are tied to at&t for some strange reason, have that aria returned on the 14th.

Well, if you are past your 30 day trial you are sh-t out of luck and will have to pay the AT&T ETF for smartphones, which is somewhere around $350-$375.

I played with one in an AT&T brick and mortar. It was a snappy little phone for it's size. It also felt really well made. My main issue with the phone was it's really too small to be a decent touch display based smartphone. The keyboard was uncomfortable to use. With a display of that size, I think a phone needs a physical keyboard.

My contract is up with them (AT&T) on the 15th. I already have an 8am appointment that same day to get my Droid X.

If you are going to part with the phone, I'd sure do it before you are required to pay the ETF. After that, it'll hurt.

Haha great replies. I would have to pay an etf but not 350, I have the old etf fee minus some months. I can make that up when I sell my other phone. The Aria would be great for girls but it kind of grows on you. With that being said, I dont have massive hands but yeah the keyboard is rather small for me. Swype is great though, Im rooted and have sideloaded apps so I wasnt worried about that. The Aria screen is tiny and useless in bright sun. Camera/video indoors, forget it. Overall , yes maybe it is too small to a touch device but it still works.

Jeez, you guys are good, I'm heading to my Verizon store after work again today and talk to my old sales rep. He already told me , he would put one on the side for me. I just want to re-confirm that :D

Umm

1)The Aria is not a girls phone just because it is smaller

2)I don't think the Aria has the smallest screen around of android phone.

That goes to the cliq family at 3.0, i believe the Aria has 3.2 putting it on the likes of the Hero and Eris

You r correct I could've swore I read something about it having a 2.8 screen. My mistake

With all the great smartphones out, what made you choose the Ariana in the first place? Did you just not want to have to deal with switching carriers? The X will probably look even bigger coming from a tiny phone like that, it's always good to steal another customer back from the dark side!

Well, I wanted to try out Android and Aria was the latest and greatest offering. I also knew the X was coming but figured I can get familiarized with Android until then, if I even wanted to switch by then and so far I'm not unsatisfied with the Aria but the X seems to offer more and even will out do it self by a bit when it releases the OTA Froyo update over the summer. I think if I can get my hands on one on the 15th I'm in, I dont want to go through an iphone waiting over night hassle though.

Not a girl's phone?

The girl's name Aria \a-ria\ is of Hebrew origin, and its meaning is "lioness".

The word "Aria" also means "a solo melody performed by a singer accompanied by an orchestra, as in an opera".

Opera singer = the fat lady that sings.

Sorry, the Aria is a girl phone. :D

2 words: Aria Giovanni

heh

:D

Ok so not sure why it bothers me to lose the ability to use voice/data simultaneously as I'm not even a big phone talker, but if I'm on wifi and I'm on a call then I could use voice/data simultaneously on Verizon? I hope so lol.

of course you can.
the voice and data was a propaganda piece by at&t when they were losing to verizon. it means nothing. the chances of u doing it are toooo slim!
but u can, with verizon on wifi.

And the Eris is named after a greek goddess yet the phone was preferred by a lot of men

and the Droid is a highly masculine looking device that I and lots of women are using

there is no such thing as a girl or guys phone unless the phone it's like pink or something

its just a name
lol

Well the Eris is a girl phone too. Haha jk, I was just joking about the girl phone thing. ;)

It doesn't go both ways anyway, because a girl with a Droid or Droid X = Awesome.
