Talk me out of not getting an Original Droid!

EDIT: That didn't take long to convince me to wait it out for the DX. Thanks!

Okay, so my first android phone was the Eris, then the incredible and now I'm waiting for the X.

I happened to wander over in the Original Motorola Droid thread here on Android Forums and after seeing all the great things they are doing there I almost want to buy one of those instead!

They've already got Froyo running and some are even overclocked to 1.2ghz, something the DX may never be able to do with the potentially encrypted bootloader.

They are pretty cheap to buy now too... Decisions decisions...

Anyone who has the original droid please tell me why you are switching to the DX. I'm having serious 2nd thoughts on the DX now.

If you're having serious problems with trying to convince yourself to get an X, then you shouldn't do it. It should be a purchase that you're sure about.

Well I sold my Incredible for enough to cover most of the DX. So I've got that cash sitting around to spend but I could pick up a Droid for less than half the price and have lots of freedom with the device.

It'll probably come down to playing with it in the store on the 15th. If I like it a lot I'll pull the trigger. Otherwise I'll get a Droid while I wait for the next big phone.

1. Faster
2. Bigger screen
3. No keyboard
4. Noise cancelling microphones
5. HD Video recording
6. Wireless N networks
7. Blockbuster app to rent movies on my phone
8. Moto blur widgets actually look really nice and useful on this phone
9. Improved cell antenna

I have had the droid since last November and I have enjoyed it, but it was always meant to be a temporary phone until a good one with no keyboard came out. I have watched a lot of reviews for the Droid X and every one just makes me want it more. The call quality is supposed to be exceptional, great speaker phone, and better signal. There is almost no lag whatsoever in anything. The battery lives up to the claims so far from the reviews I have seen.

I just always like having an awesome phone and the Droid X is it right now. The Droid is a great phone, but the Droid X beats it in every category.

This helps a lot. Especially coming from somebody who has had the droid for so long. Just curious, have you loaded any of the custom froyo roms on the phone or overclocked it at all?

I have not rooted my Droid. I have found that with android I can get everything I want without rooting through home replacements, market apps, and other apps outside the market. Froyo should be released for the Droid soon anyways with the Droid X soon after.

I am not getting rid of my Droid incase you were wondering, my daughter wants it because like I said, it is still a great phone, I just want a better one.

PS. If someone helps you out don't forget to hit thanks.

I have this same issue with cars. Do I buy a cheaper car and mod it to be what I want? Or just buy what I want?

With that said I'm 99% positive I will be giving up my 1.25ghz, Froyo running, X-themed Droid for the X on launch day.

I don't know about your analogy.
When you buy a cheaper car and mod it, it will at least be faster than the other car (at least in straight lines). But your GRAND 1.25GHz (like a pentium 3 overclocked to 8GHz) droid will still be slower than the X running at 1GHz (an i7 running at 3GHz). Not the same thing.
