Tracking Droid Software and Hardware Problems

My droid had major charging issues. I will have to return the thing. Sucks cuz I like playing with it better than my iphone. It has a 4109# but I can only get about 30 minutes of time off a complete charge. If it is on the charger to long, if sees itself as being dead. Must be some kind of software malfunction....

I have a 42/09 is that a bad one. I have a few minor issues like Echo back and some keyboard issues. They had put the dark shield on had to take it off for the clear and now I can use the touch screen.

The echo back is a known issue. You need to power cycle your phone to fix that (whatever that means, I''m waiting to get mine via Amazon ;) so I don't have hands-on experience). There are several known issues some of which have work-arounds and others that will be remedied with an update in Dec. or later.

Someone else posted the lengthy list within this thread, but so that people know and have a one-stop place to check and see if their particular issue seems out of the ordinary or replacement worthy, you might check The Verizon Resolution Document right here on Phandroid. It's a good place to start:

You can set that so its not killed off.

I did. I set both OpenHome and WeatherBug to "Ignore" in TasKiller. It still goes away and doesn't reappear when I open WeatherBug. Sometimes it'll randomly reappear within a few minutes, and sometimes I have to reboot the phone to get it to reappear.

In the grand scheme of things, it's a very little thing, but annoying nonetheless.

41/09 here, had an issue with the pattern unlock setting on day one, hard wiped (and did not attempt to re set up pattern unlock) and have had no real issues. My main screen will not rotate until I slide out the keyboard, but the touch is SO accurate, I never use the keyboard.

I did just have to do a battery pull because I had it connected and mounted to my PC, loading a DVD onto it. I had the phone in the Gallery screen already (when mounted it doesn't show anything, just says SD Card busy) and when I stopped the device on the PC and pulled the USB from the Droid, it began to refresh.......and stuck, would not accept any inputs from the touch or lower button controls. No biggie, just won't do that again :)

Battery life is incredible, using web browsing, texting, googletalking, and Slacker online radio app I get about 12 hours of use with about 10-20% left still.

I have a 44/09 and the wifi works fine, of course everything else works fine as well :)

FS, I think you're bragging. ;) And lucky, too.

I'm using a newer DLink 614+ with 64bit WEP. I think. Everything else new and old connects to the DL, even visiting fancy-pants doodads... I'm thinking I'll go out and test it at a local coffee hotspot early before the football and cigars start.

If it still doesn't connect, it's going back to the droid orphanage. [she laughs]

Joan...

I had the same issue w/ my WiFi, I have a post on here somewhere....
Anyway, I did what you mentioned I went to a hotspot, and it connected perfectly. The problem ended up being my ZyXEL Router. After checking ALL settings, I decided to ck the web for any firmware updates. Sure enough there was a recent update, which I installed to the router, and it works GREAT now w/ my DROID.

BTW I have a 39/09.....
Problems are minimal. I have the camera focus issue All seem to have, an occassional call echo complaint from the person on the other line, and keyboard lag when replying/typing on web sites.

I am debating on swapping it out......But I tried a display in the store and it didn't seem to have the keyboard (touch screen) accuracy of mine.

I may wait, sometimes the grass isn't always greener :)

I had to return my original Droid because it would lock up and restart every few minutes.

My 2nd Droid is 42/09 and the only problem I have is with the camera. I cannot get a single picture to come out focused and get the red lines EVERY single time. I have tried taking the same pictures dozens of times and still get the red lines every time. I am wondering if I should exhange it because from what I have read, everyone else is able to get green lines and a good focus at least sometimes. What do you guys think?

Hooo boy, Lobe50, I took your advice! After updating firmware, I seemed to have toasted my cheap old DLink wap while trying to set up encryption.

After brand new wap foraging at Fry's today, I chose a DLink DIR-618. Dead simple set up and all is well with my 44/09 and the wifi. MOST excellent.

All happy again in Ten-Months-O-Rainville. Bring on the bourbon! :)

I just swapped my 39/09 for a 42/09. The 42/09 seems a bit better with some things but I'm not able to get the camera to focus anymore and the slider doesn't seem quite as sturdy. It's a new one right out of the box. It's better and, unless the coming software update doesn't fix the auto-focus issue, I'll be keeping this one. :D

42/09

Experiencing crackling/clipping when played through 3.5mm jack at all volumes. Through headphones or car stereo aux. Seems like the bass/low freq sound causing it.

Also had the speaker go quiet on me ONCE during voice nav. Power off/on fixed it.

Other than that the phone is great!

We get a real 1yr warranty on these? or is the first 30 days when i should make up my mind to exchange or not?
