Once I get an notification alert, I don't get another one until I check the not. bar

This may be common knowledge, but whenever I get a notification alert (for a new email, text, etc.), I don't get another audible alert until I have checked the notification bar. What's up with that?

Maybe the first alert was an email that I don't care about, so I ignore the alert. But then if a text came in after that that I really wanted to know about, I wouldn't know about it until I actually checked the notification bar.

Any solutions?

And just to clarify, I'm not talking about repeat notifications for the same event....I am talking about a new notification for a new event. In other words, if I get an alert for an email, but I don't check the notification bar, and then a few minutes later I get a text message, I don't get an alert for the text message. I would have to have cleared the email notification first to have received a new notification.

Brand new HTC Aria, running stock 2.1 (whatever came out of the box).

You know, now that you mention it, I think I got multiple notifications yesterday (first day with the phone), so I'm not sure what's going on today. I am/was also having network trouble with gmail push and the app market. Just did a reboot and that fixed the network trouble, maybe that will take care of the notification trouble too. We'll see.

Network wonkiness in endemic to multiple network devices. If you have WiFi and 3G competing for signal and you keep jumping back and forth, any phone will get confused after a time. I turn off WiFi when not near a hotspot.

Well, my review should be taken with a grain of salt, because this is my first android phone. It would be like asking someone who saw an HDTV for the first time how they liked it over SD. That said, the first 24 hours have been great. It does everything I have wanted it to do, and I continue to be amazed at what it can do. Now, my enjoyment is further justified by the fact that I didn't pay a dime to get this phone. I got it free on wirefly. If I had paid $130 for it, I might not be as happy with it, because I'd look around at the other, bigger phones for just a little more money. It IS a little small, but I am coming from a Treo, which is about the same size overall, but has a much smaller screen. So, for me, even though it is small, it is an upgrade in features and screen size for me.

So far so good. After the reboot, everything is working normily. My wife had the same trouble on her phone, so maybe AT&T is still working out the kinks of the line activations/number porting.
