Does Your Evo Ever Start Going Bonkers?

Mine just started earlier this week. Slowly since the new update but really picked up this week. Especially text messages. When I receive a text and click on the message icon, it will bring me to a totally different text. Sometimes it takes me clicking on it 5 times or so before it brings me to the correct message thread from the person who just sent the text.

Same when I try and text someone, click on that person's thread, it takes me to someone totally different and not even close to where that person is located. I'm using the stock messaging by the way.

And now sometimes the browser will just shut off and go the home screen randomly. And it sometimes takes 5 presses to open an icon. Just weird little things that never seemed to happen before. And it seems to lag more lately than it used to.

A reset usually does the trick so it is not a major issue but still.

I've had that problem with texts as well.

I wouldn't hold your breath for it getting fixed... this was a problem I had with my HTC Hero as well (and was one of the main reasons I returned it!).

It has yet to get as bad on my Evo as it did on my Hero. Hopefully it won't ever, because I don't want to get rid of the Evo as well.

Wow that's a bummer. It was working great at first. Just this past week. I have not did anything to the phone settings wise. Just installed apps and the usual. Nothing out of the ordinary. So this is just the norm for any HTC phone really?

And I'm wondering the update is causing some of these problems. My phone started acting weirder once I installed that.

This started happening to me as well. At first I thought the update fixed the grounding issue I was having, but after a day or 2, it seemed like it reversed it, to where it worked well when sitting on a table, but not so good in hand. I also had a couple random reboots and hanging on a loading screen when coming out of apps. Turning the phone on and off and pulling the battery would fix my issues for awhile but it would just come back again.

I called Sprint and they sent me a replacement, I got it on launch day and called on July 4, which was the 30th day, so I got my "30 days" extended out until the 19th of July. So far the new phone has been great.

Oh and tech support recommended not installing the HTC update....

my problem has been sometimes when people call me. I tried to slide down to answer and it doesnt slide down and my call goes to voicemail

I downloaded the free app. No lock. You don't have to slide down with it. Just turns the screen right on. You can also use the volume keys to turn on the screen as well as the top button. Just an FYI...

OP, funny you should mention the texting problem...since it happened to me as I was reading your post...but it doesn't happen as frequently on my phone and I don't have that web browser problem, either. Seems like a pretty annoying issue though. If you try a reset, let me know if it fixes the problem...because I performed a hard reset and I still have that texting issue sometimes.

i also just started having the same text problem where i click one thread and it displays another. has only happened maybe 2 times but this issue just started a few days ago. didn't think about it until i saw this post.

my only serious problem where the evo acts nuts is when im on the phone. i'll pull the phone away from my face to look at something and the phone screen turns on and off and on and off. my proximity sensor freaks for about 30 seconds and then it goes back to normal but it sure is annoying. i had this issue with my first one and still have it with my replacement.
