I asked this in another thread but I think it may be better to give it its' own thread...

Basically, I really love my Mytouch slide's genius button. It's really the only thing stopping me from trading it for a Nexus1. I REALLY want the Nexus1 but I can't get myself to go for it unless I can be sure I won't miss out on my fave function on the mytouch slide. With the genius button I can hit it and say "Find radio shack" and it will pull it up on my google maps or I can say "Text Ben I'll be late" and it will do it for me. It's just so easy. I am not a super techie person and I like that this phone makes those applications FAST and EASY. BUT if I can get those things just as fast and easy on the Nexus1 I'll trade it without hesitation. This is my first android phone so I am not sure how many functions on this phone are just part of the phone and what can be used on any phone. I appreciate everyone's help with this! I know I've posted a lot on this recently. I just have to make a decision soon.
Thanks!

There is an app that pretty much mimics the genius button...its call Vlingo. I believe its 9.99.

I saw a review Vlingo vs Genius, and Vlingo looked to be much better. Theres a video review of it up on youtube....its from another Android site, so Im not sure if Im allowed to post the direct link. But you can search for it on youtube.

I've read that Google Navigation has this feature enabled in the app, not sure as I don't drive and thus have no use for Navi. Can anyone comment on this? lol.

Well if you've read this Forum, you know what's the pros and cons of having the N1 :p But I think the N1 being the only phone at the moment with 2.2 should be the sweetener on the cake as the saying goes.

Just to clarify, those are all the things the n1 search long press does. The only thing You are missing is the text, although I don't have a mt3gs so if you do compare and decide

It also works like an "around me" function.
You can tell it "Find coffee" and it will open google maps and locate every coffee shop in your immediate area. It is also way more accurate with understanding what you've told it. I ended up trading in my slide for a Samsung Vibrant and I am missing that button so much!!! I bought Vlingo and I am not very happy with it, either. It misunderstands what I tell it most of the time.

Whoa! I just learned how to use the find function on google voice!!! I didn't realize it did that. I just didn't phrase it properly. I said "Find coffee shops" and it worked. Just like the genius button. I am learning so much! I guess the only function I need is the texting function. I could get that with handcent or something else I think.

Yeah, I didn't understand why anyone would want to buy a program that does what is already built into the N1. I use the voice feature all the time. If you use the stock keyboard with the built-in mic, you can dictate your text responses or even into a notes type program. Also, in addition to the search, you can use the built-in voice dialer app to open applications by just saying "open ..." whatever application.

Hey, I have a Vibrant also and would really like to an app that will simulate the MyTouch "genius" button! So other than Vlingo, any other suggestions?
