Pre Ordered my Droid X?

So I went into my local Verizon store today to see if any of the employees had the new smartphone for me to oogle at. Unfortunately no, but in the process of talking to the rep I asked if they were going to be opening at 8 on the 15th and she said yes. She also told me that I could set up an appointment to get one. I had never heard of this but of course I obliged, so she sent me to a woman behind the desk and she asked what time I wanted to come in and how many Droid X's I wanted.

If this means anything as a "Pre-order" arrangement I don't know. I'm assuming if they ran out of phones before 8:00am (my appointment time) I would still be SOL.

Either way I am excited and its less than a week away!!!!! WOOOOOOO!!!

I also called in to a local verizon store today to see if they had a demo available, they said they wont have them out until the 15th, but they also asked me if i wanted to make an appointment for the 15th to get one, but i didnt set one up because i've already pre-ordered at bb and i dont want to have to deal with a mail-in rebate.

i was told the same story at my local VZW so i set an appt even though i also have one reserved at BB, #10 so want to be sure. i may also hit up a local walmart at midnight if i can verify them getting them in.

what good did the "so many posts" comment do anyways.....

I believe you some stores will do that because the more interested people they have the more stock they get. Don't listen to people if they try and say shit because u dont have alot of posts the verizon store in my area did the same thing just no appointment times but they told me the more interested the more stock they would receive.

I too called Verizon. I tried to preorder online and it connected me to the Droid. not the Droid X. The woman at my local store told me to "make an appt" at 9am with her and it would be first come first serve. Hopefully the line won't be out the door. But I am going even though my new every 2 isn't until October. Its worth the $70 more not to have to wait. I can barely use my phone anymore - my storm has been a problem for a long time!!!!!!

Actually, I just got back from my local store. I asked how many they were getting and the answer was "hundreds" (not sure if I believe that). Anyway, I told them that I wanted two, they took my name, showed me some of the cases (I chose one for each X), and said they'd have it all together on the 15th to make it easier for them to get me through the process. They're opening at 8am and I'll be there when they open or soon after.

BTW, I have no allusions of this being a pre-order or reservation. I'd expect them to sell them if I'm not there in the morning and they sell the rest of them.

Called two different VZW stores today and asked if they were taking preorders. Of course they said no, but offered to set up an "appointment" for me to come in and pick one up. I asked if this guaranteed me a phone and they both said yes. So kind of a preorder I guess. I also asked how many they were going to get, both stores said 60 after checking their inventory. They said they expect to get another shipment pretty quick after launch day, but couldn't confirm how quick.

Take it for what it's worth.

I just called my two local stores they both said they could make a appt. but that does not mean they will have a x for me.....also one store has 10 in for launch and the other has 14....

The local store here did something similar; they didn't make an oppointment but they took my name and offered to 'hold' one for me.

My Verizon store did the exact same thing.

REALLY? You guys? REALLY? Haven't you read the zero-tolerance and rules posts? Even if you haven't you're still responsible for them. Name calling and rudeness WILL NOT BE TOLERATED HERE! I've called a mod in to address the issue and delete the appropriate posts. Come on. Stick to the issues. Post count of the OP means very little. Content is everything. I am in the top ten of all-time posters here. It still means nothing. Keep it to the issues and if you can't keep it nice, believe me the mods issue disciplines. Just got off the phone with my local corporate VZW. They finally got more info and said they will only have 20 units to sell on launch. BS? I hope so...

Well one of my local stores is huge and they have less then 15 for launch....the other store said they have vouchers and may hand them out starting sunday... which is your pone pretty much....

good thing i read this thread.. i called a verizon store and they said no preorders but there is a "list", no guarantee; nonetheless, im #30 and #31. and will open earlier then store hours..

if it wasnt for my bb falling apart, quite literally(got tape on it) i wouldnt even be worrying about getting one at launch and could wait months after release to grab one.. but count me in to be there in the early a.m just to be sure i get one.
