Help Handcent messages to e-mail

I have been using Handcent for a little while now with my D Inc and noticed a difference between it and the stock HTC Messanger app. When using Handcent and try to forward a text message to my e-mail none of my e-mail contacts show under contacts in Handcent. Under the stock HTC Messanger app it shows ALL of my contacts including e-mail only and regular cell number contacts. I tried ChompSms as well and it did the same thing. I like the customizing capability of Handcent a lot but having to forward messages to e-mail and hand typing my e-mail address out every time is annoying.
Anyone else notice this?

why would you send a text message to an email address, two different message programs/formats. Rightfully so when you Swype/type a name into a new Text message "TO" window... all NAMES/NUMBERS related to your entry will appear in reference to TEXTING will be listed in a drop down window.

I don't want an email address to appear if i'm sending a text, and vice-versa.

I hope this helps, if i understand your problem.

Handcent > Settings > Send Message Settings > Uncheck "Show mobile num only"

You might also check under "Social Network Settings" if some of the emails you wish to access are imported from Facebook, etc...

I use this capability pretty often - getting information received from one method available on another medium, etc...

I forward received picture messages that I receive on my phone to my e-mail and I am not sure how your response helps me with this. After manually typing an e-mail address into the TO field it does not show up again when I forward a new message.

I've messed with both of these settings with no change. I am assuming that HTC specifically coded it's messaging app to handle SMS/MMS in that way? Both Handcent and Chomps apparently did not do this which is a bummer because I love Handcent's customization options.

If your texting and receive a message, and you want to forward that text message to your PC because of a photo/message/whatever, your phone will NOT give you the option of a stored email address when typing in the " TO " window.

If i understand it correctly... your not going to get a pre-suggestive Email Address in a Texting Application. When i forward a Text message... i to only get text message addresses (phone numbers) in a pre-suggestive window.

Your best option is to go to PHOTOS, choose a photo and select the share ICON, and choose from the option window...email,bluetooth,message...etc

Also try to you long press the photo in the Text message you receive and see if you can choose and option from there other than SAVE TO. I can't remember off hand what other option than save to... it will give you.

I should have been clearer I guess. When I try to forward a message and select the address book option it only lists the contacts with a cell-phone number and not ALL of my contacts. The HTC app lists ALL contacts with the address book option. I don't disagree with your first paragraph, however that was not what I was specifically asking. My bad!

I agree. Asking why someone wants to know something isn't helping; it also implies that the person asking is wrong in doing so, which of course it's up to each person to decide what is most efficient and effective for them.

I also would like to know how to do this, because I tend to like to forward msgs to my email that I either find interesting or notes that I want to send to myself in email, other than having to type out my email address as the recipient *every* *single* *time*...

At work we can page people by sending a text via email to their phone, I have to use the stock messaging app in order to reply to those messages. Handcent won't allow a reply to go through. Nor can I initiate a message to work from my Handcent app. It's a very BIG problem to some. :( I really need this ability for work, so I guess it's back to the stock messaging app.
