dazed and confused

Not quite sure how to do it with your phone, but with the Droid, all I have to do is mount my SD card to my computer and transfer the avi over.. or you can buy andtorrent from the market, and download them straight to your phone.. hope this helps.. and welcome to the Android Forums!

You need to convert it first to one of these:
MPEG-4, H.263, H.264 or Windows Media Video.

I created a batch file a long time ago (see bellow) for converting videos in order to play them on the Hero. Quality is good but may be improved. Videos are scaled to 480x320 (Hero's resolution) using the MPEG4 and AAC CODECS. You'll need FFMPEG ( FFmpeg). You can grab a compiled version here: Unofficial FFmpeg Win32 Builds

Of course, there id a lot of tools for this but this one works...

Enjoy!

Copy paste this into a file named convert.bat

ffmpeg -i %1 -b 300k -s 480x320 -vcodec mpeg4 -ac 2 -ab 128k -acodec libfaac %~p1\%~n1_720x480.3gp
