My wife owns the Droid INC. And I have been stuck with a crappy BBcurve with worse network (nextel) for well over a year and a half. I am fed up.. I had my mind set on getting the Droid INC...

My wife got hers on release date her phone is awesome and I have spent many hours using it. Today went to the local VZ store and the manager went to the back and got a droid X for me to look and and mess with.
Few key things
Hardware

As some people have reported the phone done not feel as big as it is.. I was holding my wife’s Inc in one hand and the X in the other. I don’t know if its the way the phone is made or what but they almost felt the same size. It seems like the X is skinner other then the Hump..

And as others have reported the Hump is not noticeable at all unless your looking for it. It is much slighter then the photos suggest.
Quality is not even close between the X and the INC even my wife said that her phone feels Cheap.

The quality of the X blows the INC out of the water. Its like holding a cheap plastic toy compared to high tech piece of equipment (almost cant explain it)

UI
The UI on the X (moto blur) is nice and FAST the screens and the touch screen is super responsive seems better then the INC..
But there is still something about the (SENSE UI) that I like better don’t know what it is maybe its the widgets have more color or its that clock on the home screen.

If that can be changed with the droid X then I would have the prefect phone. (On the INC I really like the pinch out from the home screen then pick the one you want to go too. Not a fan of the dots on the moto blur deal)
The buttons at the bottom of the phone are awesome they are recessed perfect as to not get in the way but easy to touch when needed.

Overall
I was waiting to see this phone in person before I decided to get my first real Smartphone.. I was going to get a driod INC but the ******ed 4-5 week wait was clearly not worth it.
So I waited for the last 3 weeks for this one to come out. And now that I have had a chance to play with it I am more then happy I did.

I spoke to the manager of the store he got 45 of the Xs in stock and will be opening up an hour early on Thur. I am sure to get one in this small town.. The wife wants to sell her INC on Ebay now and get an X LOL I think I sense some Envy ….
Something tells me when 2.2 comes out this thing is going to be sick!!!

Yes its called launcher pro beta and its free on the android market. Its much faster than sense ui too. and if you download pure calendar, pure grid calendar, pure messenger, and beautiful widgets in conjunction with launcher pro beta you will essentially have a sense UI replacement. I mostly stick with beautiful widgets, pure calendar, and launcher pro myself.

The verizon store guy said he had 45 in stock? Potential bribe would have ensued :)

LOL!!! I did not think about the bribe. But once he put it in my hand I did look up at him and ask him how fast he could run lol!!! he did not think it was as funny as I did. It was a fully active phone so i got to mess with it alot

The only think I cannot stress enough is how Cheap the INC feel compared to this phone. The wife has come to me no less then 3 times this afternoon and is mad because she held the X and her INC side by side.. She keeps saying shes putting it on ebay LOL!!!

If someone likes their INC what ever you do stay away from the X you will be ruined for life..LOL!

I played with an X today at my local store and couldn't agree more with this observation. It's like they're enlarging it on the pics or something, it is seriously a non-issue.

I thought the evo was huge based on pictures but when i saw the phone as i purchased it, it wasn't as big as i thought

bigger than hero or droid

but wasn't unbearable

Compared the Inc and X and keeping the Inc:

1. I must have smaller hands than I thought or short thumbs, since it is very awkward using with one hand- same as EVO.

2. I do not like the microsd stuck behind the battery. Lame for the EVO and X, since both are big a55 devices- why no room since Inc does have space?

3. Text and images look better to me on the Inc. Surprising, considering the original Droid looks better than the Inc (for text).

4. Radio reception seems no better than my Inc in the Best Buy in Lexington. Both ranged around -79dBm to -84dbm dbm in the store. The Droid on display was about -5 better than both, but could only test the older Droid where the display was stationed at.

5. Swype was more awkward, since more distance to travel- I did not expect this to be an issue, but was to me. This (BTW) is my lamest reason.

6. The X does not sound as good as the Inc from the 3.5mm jack. Seemed less volume and range. About the same as the Droid, actually- which also does not sound as good as the Inc.

Two things that were better: build quality, games and videos. The bigger display wins out, IMO. Display response for touch seemed just as good as the Inc.

In summary, both are great devices, but neither enough of a jump, considering dual core LTE's are out this time next year- Including a Texas Instruments chip that uses one core for media and the other for operations. Sweet :)

added:

Perhaps we will see a 4" super amoled displayed, dual core LTE with at least 16gb built in and a keyboard :) Then again, the socialist army will probably migrate to VZW next year, since iPhone will probably be here too..... :( Bummer. Jobs is a tool. I wonder if Android will have enough steam to weather the likely Apple drones?? That spoof video by the BB employee was spot-on.
